Can anyone help me find a party dress for 10 year old dd please

We have a fairly smart family party coming up and dd needs a dress. She has become incredibly fussy with clothes lately, lives in black leggings or grey tracksuit bottoms with various tops and hoodies from New Look 9-15.

She does actually want to dress up and wear a dress but I have no ideas where to look for something suitable that she won't turn her nose up. Party is fairly soon so we don't have much time (I know, I've been procrastinating for ages!). And it's the wrong time of year too now Xmas is over.

My dd is the same lived in hoodies and trainers and leggings she is very sporty. Won't wear a dress. How about smart shorts with tights. Next often have them. If it has to be a dress try a jersey version eg from joules or boden with leggings underneath. That us as smart as my dd goes

black skater with flowers
burgundy playsuit
various colours cold shoulder
gorgeous blue embroidered

New Look 9-15, River Island kids, M&S (surprisingly), Designers at Debenhams, Next, H&M and TK Maxx all worth a look - look online with her to narrow it down before you go and limit 'shopping fatigue' Grin

I think she DOES want a dress but not a babyish one.

DDs liked forever 21 kids at that age (which you can order online). Length tends to be quite short which makes them feel a bit more grown up. Depending on budget, also have a look at abercrombie kids on line.

How dressy is the event?

Dancergirl · 20/02/2017 14:29

Medium smart why not black tie but the men will be wearing suits I imagine.

Thank you faux I don't think dd would go for floral but some of the others might be possibles. I'd forgotten about River Island and I've just had a quick look at M&S online, some possibilities there too. Will show dd when she gets in from school.

There are options out there. But it really depends on what you are looking for. I don't think any of these a really babyish. Though some are more grown up than others...

We had a similar situation recently and ended up with dress below but in a different colour.

We like it because it looked dressy. She liked it as it looked v fashionable.

Maybe ASOS? Order a few things to try on and see what she likes
