How can you teach yourself to walk in high heels?

I have just acquired a pair of Irregular Choice 'Nick of Time' shoes, they're fucking GORGEOUS.. but I can't walk in heels that high, I have pairs of ICs with the lower heel (dazzles and ban joe) so DH thought i'd love these too (and I do, lots, just HIGH HEEL)

I am not going to give them up, they were a gift, but equally I don't want to leave them mouldering in the box, these are made to be worn and shown off!

So how do I learn to walk without falling arse over tit?

I've been trotting around in them for a bit this morning, already feeling easier. I put a pair of the lower ones on afterwards, they felt like flats! Grin

Oh dear lord! OP, ignore the naysayers - if you want to bloody wear hight heels, then do it! It doesn't somehow make you antifeminist, or desperately trying to appeal to men! I wear heels because I like them and so should you if you want too. Lots of practising - wear them when you're at home, or doing something short and quick (like the supermarket tip upthread); it's the only way. Get some padded insoles as well if they fit the shoes (a massive boon).

And a massive well done for the weight loss!

There are lots of videos on you tube that teach you how to walk in heels.

Tape your toes! There's a nerve that runs between your toes and if you immobilise the two toes immediately after your little toe with surgical tape, it removes the pressure point and makes them less painful. That then lets you stride with confidence. Oh and ibuprofen gel on the balls of your feet.

Dance in them. Put some tunes on and dance around in them. It's a lot easier than trying to walk about aimlessly in them.

Calf raises to strengthen your ankles and calves, and work on your core

I'm a trainer and DM wearer, but fuckin love heels

Some high heels 👠 are really easy to walk in. Some aren't. I think the logic ends there!! I know not why.

mogonfoxnight · 19/02/2017 13:48

Your muscles need to get used to them again, that's all. I used to live in high heels, wear them to work and then go dancing in them. Now, post babies, i live in flats and cannot walk in heels.

It is like drinking, actually. Practice. i can't do that anymore either.

They are lovely shoes!

Heel toe heel toe practice practice

High heels and feminism aren't mutually exclusive!

The trick is not to look at your feet.

Also, remember to let your hips roll naturally.

For what not to do, look at models on a catwalk : clumpy, stiff and awkward. Channel your inner Marilyn Monroe instead :)

I travel to/ from work in flats (long train commute, I find it easier to navigate busy stations and possibly running for my train in flats), and I keep several pairs of high heels in my desk at work. It keeps my shoes looking nice for longer too.

I've never been able to walk in heels, I wish I could, I'm putting it down to being tall with big boobs....obviously my centre of gravity is all skewed! 😂

CherrySkull · 19/02/2017 19:12

older, yes, really. I know about toe-taping and it does work!
