Anything nice in Waitrose I should know about?

JLbaby · 12/02/2017 15:14

I'm going away on Tuesday for the night and I'll be near a Waitrose - my nearest local one is about 35mins drive so I don't really ever go.

Are there any nice moisturisers/creams/shampoo/conditioners or anything else I should know about that I 'need' to buy?!

Olive oil soap - I use nothing else on my face now and my skin is clearer than it's been for ages.

Waitrose own bubble baths - lime and basil and mandarin and ginger.

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 12/02/2017 23:43

They sell Lanolips in the Waitrose near to me, along with Cowshed, Burts Bees and Korres all mid level brands which tend to have decent finds.
The Waitrose Pure hydration hot cloth thing is really nice and about a fiver, often discounted too.
I use the Amie morning cleanser occasionally which is lovely. Neals Yard eye make up remover is very good.
Their own brand soaps and shower gels are great too.
My branch has Balance Me too, I have only used a couple of their oils but would like to try more.

IMissGin · 12/02/2017 23:47

White chocolate ice cream
Wheat & rye quarter loaf
Stokes ketchup

SesameSparkle · 12/02/2017 23:48

Ooh which is the soap mumbod? I can see a waitrose essential one and another by little soap company on the website.

Botanicbaby · 12/02/2017 23:51

baby bottom butter is good.

i like their pure range too.

also they do a moroccan oil 5? think it is called shampoo and conditioner in tall, slim bottles which I like (smell reminds me of a shampoo from the 80s? called flex, it was custard yellow), am sure its the same stuff! Grin

I agree with the previous comments about their shower gel, bath and liquid soap. The bath foam is only £1 for 750 ml and lovely fragrances. They also stock a range called Dr Salts based on Dead Sea salts. Also another range based on Himalayan salt. Larger branches stock Neals Yard Bee Lovely hand cream which is fab.

Not style and beauty but they sometimes have a good albeit small range of crockery. I got some oriental patterned bowls from there recently.

Have a look on their website before you go and make a list is my suggestion.

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 13/02/2017 00:43

I second Stokes Ketchup.
And their own brand scented candles.
And their own sourdough bread.

Bleurghghghgh · 13/02/2017 00:49

I bought a cold pressed rosehip oil in there a couple of weeks ago and it's done wonders for my skin. Big bottle so I've mixed it with olive oil for cleansing, day cream for AM and body moisturiser. Using it neat on damp (spritz) cleanser as my PM moisturiser. Looking plump, for the first time in months! I'll check the brand tomorrow for you.

My local also sells Balance Me stuff, some of which is hit or miss (don't like their moisturisers for the price) but their cleansing balm is DIVINE. I also like the face oil

Bleurghghghgh · 13/02/2017 00:51

Autumnal mine actually has a much better toiletry section than any other supermarket. No makeup but absolutely loads of skincare (which is what OP actually asked about) which is definitely more high end than the usual offerings. Therefore requiring opinions before buying.

Bleurghghghgh · 13/02/2017 00:53

And OP of you make/have an account with them you can use the store you're going to be staying near as a 'click and collect' option then see exactly what's there before you go in... I hope that makes sense

MumBod · 13/02/2017 03:59

sesame I've just looked at the website, and I can't see the one I bought! It's definitely not Waitrose essential.

It's one that has about four natural ingredients, no SLS or anything dodgy.

I'll keep looking...

MumBod · 13/02/2017 04:01

Found it! It's the Little Soap Company one.

Like you said in the first place, Sesame

Insomnia brain Blush

The corn fritters - normally near the cheese aisle in most branches. They are so good, love them. Wheat/rye bread and candles as pp said. Burt's bees lemon bath / body oil. They also have good olive oil brands in waitrose, not as good as Natoora but still much better than any other supermarket. Can't remember half the stuff now but i only go to waitrose very rarely these days as every time i went i spent a small fortune aaaaaargh. Love it in there though

Missbohan · 13/02/2017 04:15

Oh incidentally they also have all the best and natural dog food brands and treats - i always stocked up on lily's kitchen stuff in there for my brother's dog as i look after her a lot and completely spoil her. Need to go tomorrow i think, totally for the dog, not myself Cake i realise you asked about beauty and not dog food! Just thought i would put it out there incase any pet owners need a valid excuse!

Deathraystare · 13/02/2017 07:51

As mentioned above the baby bottom butter. Not used it myself but I have read rave reviews in quite a few places.

JLbaby · 13/02/2017 08:05

bleurgh - I'm glad you said that as I know the Waitrose I'm going to has a good skincare section, much better range than the other stores I know of!

Anyway thanks for all the recommendations (both food and skincare!), I can see I'll be spending a small fortune!

There's a very attractive young man on our fish counter?

SesameSparkle · 13/02/2017 08:39

Thanks mumbod, will look out for that. Smile

Laiste · 13/02/2017 09:41

Just wanted to echo pp that ours has a lovely toiletry isle. No make up, but full of high end brands of face/body care you don't see in ANY of our other local superstores at all. Perhaps it's down to the buyer in each shop?

My local sainsbos is a big store but it's toiletry section is dire. Boring as hell. Big hair dye section, two or 3 small make up stands (which are always half empty) and then just rows of all the basic boring shower gels and deodorants and on to medicine. this is probably just as well because that's where i shop most often and i'd be spending too much money on fancy crap otherwise.

EssentialHummus · 13/02/2017 09:48

Waitrose picante sardines. Eat them don't put on face.

GrinGrin

Essential Sea Salt and Kelp shower gel is a winner.

Rainatnight · 13/02/2017 09:49

Their own brand eye make up remover is cheap and great.

WellTidy · 13/02/2017 09:50

The Waitrose essentials range of bath foam is absolutely lovely. It is such a bargain. I think it is £1.10 or so for a 750 ml bottle, and it would be well worth about ten times that imo. I like the pink grapefruit one and the chamomile one best, but the bluebell one is good too. They stopped selling it in my local waitrose for a few months and I was gutted. Back in stock now though. Phew.

I bought a lanolips hand cream in a rose scent from my local Waitrose a few months back and I really liked that. It was one that is quite sticky (sort of like Eight Hour Cream can be) so I only used it at night, but it was nice.

Huntzberger · 13/02/2017 09:50

I love the Waitrose toiletries aisle - there's one near my work and I love pottering in there at lunch.

I regularly use/re-purchase:
Daniel Galvin DGJ hair juice shampoo, which I think(?) is SLS free and smells of melon - just delish.
Heritage Collection white jasmine and peony bubble bath
The whole Essentials Chamomile range is lovely, the bar soap is good.
The kids Woodland Friends range is nice.

I think some of the Pure range is half price at the moment - there's usually a half price offer on one of their ranges, that's when I try things out.

TinfoilHattie · 13/02/2017 09:51

Love their liquid soap / handwash things. The clementine and ginger is my absolute favourite and smells much more expensive than it is.

MrsMeeseeks · 13/02/2017 09:54

The Pure hydrating facial oil is amazing. I bought some yesterday and used it for the first time last night. The skin on my face looks so much more plumped and smooth this morning!
