How much make up do you wear during the day?

I dont wear makeup during the day to work (3 days a week)
At weekends & my other 2 days, I do wear lipstick but thats it.

I wear it if I go out at night - the works - but seems too much to wear during the day.

I feel better with makeup - like Ive made an effort - but just not sure how much to wear during the day.

i go for barely there stuff

enough to diguise my increasing years but w/o looking like i'm trying too hard

hoolagirl · 28/02/2007 09:24

During the day I need to wear eyeliner or my eyes disappear.

When I went out to work it would be the works, but to me that is foundation, eyeliner and lipgloss, sometimes eyeshadow.

Definetly a glittery eyeshadow on a nightout.

Not much compared to some.

themoon66 · 28/02/2007 09:25

No foundation. Just a bit of eye shadow, kohl pencil along the bottom lid, waterproof mascara.

MrsBadger · 28/02/2007 09:26

Benefit LemonAid on eyelids
Concealer on eyebags and any spots
Vaseline on lips
If I'm looking especially haggard I might use tinted moisturiser and/or brown mascara but nothing more during the day.

When I wear full makeup I still have quite a light hand (light foundation, no eyeliner, brown masacara, lip stain etc) so for weddings etc where I wear makeup during the day I do exactly the same as I would at night just with less dark/sparkly eyes.

mistressmiggins · 28/02/2007 09:28

the works for me is eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick & bit of shimery powder

I just saw a thread about making more of yourself & people were asking whether OP put make up on

I have to get 2 children & myself ready for work/school/nursery so am really rushed in the morning - get up at 6.30am so dont really want to get up earlier than that

None...I like to look & feel very different on the weekends or when I'm out in the evening.

mistressmiggins · 28/02/2007 09:29

what is LemonAid?

I have it as part of my routine, just 5 minutes before I leave the house. Focuses me and makes me feel ready for the day.

I wear:
-skin: either beauty balm flash or intelligent colour foundation
-eyes:grey liner, eyeshadow on lids, highlighter under brow, mascara sometimes, eyebrow pencil. Touche Eclait if looking tired
-lips: max factor lip finety with elizabeth arden 8hour cream on top or a gloss

I used to work in harrods and had to wear it and it got me in the habit. It makes me feel better, it is part of being 'me'.

This is one of cod's favourite topics. Here's a montage of her make up styles over the years...

i wear bit of bronzing powder in day so i dont get the your so pale looks but if out i do the works!if i had more time and energy in mornings id wear more in day!

MrsBadger · 28/02/2007 09:33

it's fabulous - my (very clever) sister bought me the Realness of Concealness box in Duty Free as a way of trying a little bit of several things and the LemonAid and the Boi-ing are def the winners from it.

If you have a Debenhams with a Benefit concession, try going in on their late-night opening night, as all the makeup counter girls go home at 5 just leaving staff on the tills, so you can play with the testers without anyone breathing down your neck.
Their new not-foundation stuff looks pretty good as well but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Ooh, it's much cheaper in the States isnt it - if I order from the Benefit site will I be stung for import tax?

MrsBadger · 28/02/2007 09:55

not sure - it's $7.48 for shipping though, which'd make the LemonAid $25.50 ie about £13 at the best exchange rate.
It is cheaper than buying it online from Benefit UK , where it's £20.00 delivered, but only saves you £2.50 on going to Boots.

Rarely put make up on during the day, but if I'm out and about or at work it's a covering of Beauty Flash Balm, touche eclat for dark rings, mascara and neutral lip gloss. Love getting all the slap on for a night out though.

paulaplumpbottom · 28/02/2007 10:56

undereye concealer
eye bright
blush

I put on Clinique Pore Perfect Instant Perfector (or some such name) - basically a primer, but it evens out my skin tone so I can get away without foundation, and keeps my t-zone looking less oily too. Bit of concealer if/where I need it. Bit of something on lips, usually just lipgloss, or a light lipstick (a No 7 one I got free with a magazine last summer). Sometimes a tiny bit of eyeshadow. This is when I go to work. If off work, just the primer, maybe a bit of vaseline on the lips.

pollyanna · 28/02/2007 11:02

on a non work day I wear tinted moisturiser, mascara and lip gloss and maybe a bit of blusher and highlighter.

On a work day I wear concealer, foundation, mascara, eyeshadow (2 types), eye-brow pencil, blusher, highlighter, lipgloss.

Mrs B - where do you put the lemon-aid? I have got that, but don't know where to put it?

paulaplumpbottom · 28/02/2007 11:03

You put it on your eyelids

NomDePlume · 28/02/2007 11:07

none most days, although I do wear lipsalve/vaseline but don't really consider that to be make up

some days a tiny bit of brown mascara (most of it wiped off the wand/brush beforehand), with a blended in dot of cheek tint on each cheek
