Glasses wearers - please will you post pics of your specs?

I'm after some awesome-yet-not-hideously-expensive eyewear inspiration. My frames are currently roundish brown tortoiseshell ones from specsavers men's range and I'm a bit bored of them now. Seen some etnia Barcelona frames I quite like but not sure if they suit me or are a bit boring...

My last glasses were £350 Armani ones. I've just bought the starlet glasses from specsavers - £25 all in! ShockGrin I love them, they look great.

phoenix1973 · 05/02/2017 23:08

Mine are Guess. They are dark purple toirtoishell at the front, with contrasting turquoise at the back. I am -9 prescription so even with max thinning there's a small projection.
I love these frames though. 250 Costco inc max thinning, frames and transitions.

Op, you wear a wedding dress for one day. I assume you'll wear your specs every day for at least two years so by my reckoning, that gives you a budget of up to £51,100. Smile

OCSock Thanks for that link - I've not come across them before.

Agree with PP a good optician is worth their weight in gold. My days of using boots and specsavers and ill-fitting frames are over. Cutler & Gross is out of my price range at the moment sadly.

I've got a lovely classic tortoiseshell pair and a pair of Raybans in dark tortoiseshell which I love. I suit dark frames but I've noticed metal wire frames (I do not suit these!) are back in fashion Smile

These, from specsavers, in purple. I have others, but these are the ones that are "me" if you know what I mean. I find titanium frames so much more comfortable than others too, plus I have a big head, so appreciate the 140mm arms!

Slightly worried that I couldn't find an actual specsavers link because I've had this pair for 18 months now. Thankfully, they've not been swiped off my face by ds2 as much as my first pair of them, so are still in good nick.

Yes I've seen a few people wearing metal John Lennon frames again - I've probably still got a pair somewhere Smile

Botanicbaby · 06/02/2017 10:35

Yes floisme also the aviator type shapes as well as John Lennon/Harry potter!

Spotted a rose gold wire framed pair on a woman on the train they really suited her black skin, it made me want to go try on some but I know they would look horrendous on me Smile I think fashion goes full circle and it's moving away from all plastic moulded frames.

IHeartKingThistle · 06/02/2017 10:36

If anyone sees John Lennon ones in kids sizes let me know - DS (7) is a mad Harry Potter fan and at the moment I get round frames from eBay and Specsavers very kindly put his lenses in but it is a bit of a palaver!

PickAChew · 06/02/2017 10:37

Current collection!

Reading glasses at the top. Usually wear them to pluck my eyebrows. The rest are varifocals. I love the half frame ones, but rarely wear them. Need new sunglasses because they're scratched an a little small, so make my ears hurt.

DH gets his John Lennon ones from glasses direct, but they've not had the frame colour he wants in the right lens size for ages, so he's wearing a rather battered old pair of them.

CallarMorvern · 06/02/2017 14:03

I always wear titanium rimless. Love the blue rimless upthread. I also need small lenses as I read from underneath them. I've just ordered these from Boots, they are from the men's section as I didn't want gold or sparkly bits Hmm

Plain black from specsavers bloke side. Other side is all frills, pink, flowers, brand names and fussy dame Edna muck traps, so not me.

Not as bad as what I saw in a farm supplies shop today - a lady light torch which was covered in a flower print....

AngelicCurls · 06/02/2017 15:59

These are mine. Love them and so comfy compared to my old style wih nose pads. It did take me ages to pick them tho, must have had about 15 pairs to get a 2nd opinion from the sales ladies though Blush. My tip would be to wear contacts when you're trying them on (if you can). I went in my glasses to my sight test and of course can't then see well enough to choose a new pair without peering unattractively into the mirrors Blush. Went back the next week with my lenses in-much easier to chose as was no longer blind as a bat Smile
