I'd really appreciate some feedback on today's purchase. Do you think the shirt works for me? Trying to shake my wardrobe up a bit and would normally wear something fitted. Not sure it it suits my shape!

I think it depends what look you're aiming for
Comfy/kicking round the house or smarter?

Can you try in a smaller size/or find a more fitted version if you want to show off your figure more or is it the colour that's not grabbing you?

Don't add a belt

Alternatives...Jersey blazer/jacket - smarter, hoodie, more casual

Fab figure op, why not size down? I bought a check shirt from Topshop years ago, I'm usually a 14 I bought a 10, I went shopping with a friend and she said no way, chucked me a size 10, Fannys your Aunt, Bobs your Uncle. Felt great and looked good!

SuperVeggie · 02/02/2017 04:51

OP you look a similar shape to me, it seems like you are very slim on top. IMO a lot of clothes in the shops now are aimed towards people who are more 'apple' shaped and fit with the current fashion of skinny jeans and oversized/floaty tops. That style is good to hide a tummy if you've got one, but you haven't at all! I think it just makes you look bigger than you are if I'm honest. You need to show off your slim top half!

Maybe look for tops that are still fitted but a different colour/style/material than usual to help shake it up?

Silverdream · 02/02/2017 05:27

I think it looks great for every day. I prefer it to the t shirt.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/02/2017 06:05

Wear a fitted t shirt underneath?

TeethDrama · 02/02/2017 17:17

It looks good. You can see you've got a slim figure and you have great legs so I don't think you need to wear "figure flattering" clothes with a figure like yours because you have nothing to disguise! Checks and ginghsms will be everywhere for spring/summer so it's trendy, and I like the check size on that shirt, I think it's perfect for the slightly oversized shirt style.

humanfemale · 03/02/2017 11:31

It's not especially flattering but that silhouette and style of shirt is fashionable just now.
But if you're already erring towards sending it back you should! Only clothes that make you feel enthused should be kept :)

TeethDrama · 03/02/2017 17:49

Agree there, human. There's only a handful of items I've kept as maybes that I went on to wear, so I've stopped keeping them now!

RandomWordsandaNumber5 · 03/02/2017 19:39

What about wearing the shirt open with a vest top underneath and / or a statement belt?

Crankycunt · 03/02/2017 19:41

I'd wear a vest underneath and Wear it open.

MsAR · 03/02/2017 20:06

I've kept it and worn it open with a t-shirt underneath as advised by some on here. Got a couple of compliments too and I never normally have anyone comment on what I'm wearing.
