i even momentarily considered calling the agents to ask the owners, but then realised they'd soon tell me where to get off

i know i could buy material and make somthing but i am useless in such things and am hoping someone may know of a wonderful bedding retailer...

Looks to me like it's a designer fabric made into a bedspread rather than something off the shelf.. The fabric looks very similar to the Simonii design by Romo and Eranthe and Asuka ranges by Osborne and Little. Both have pics on website, romofabrics.com and osborneandlittle.com. None of these are exactly the same, but very similar. The other optionis to print off the photo and take it to a Interiors/fabric shop and you can compare it to these ranges and other fabric books. Another option is to write to the decorating boffin Celia Rufey at Homes and Gardens mag (costs if you are not a subscriber) but perhaps worth it if you are really keen to find out. She should be able to track it down I would think. Good luck!

Tutter, forgot to say any curtain maker will make up a bedspread for you if you can find a fabric you want, as will pretavivre.com. Good luck!
