Any thoughts on the dresses ?
Have to say, I hated Linda Evangelista's kaftan thing, not very keen on Penelope Cruz's fluffy feathery dress. Cate Blanchett looked great. Katie Holmes/Cruise looked bizarre, imo - she looked lovely, but the dress was weird. Hated Gwyneth Paltrow's dress - the photo on the Mail site makes her hips look huge, and I'm sure they're not.

hi jn,
agree don't like gwynnie's 'nude' frock
also meryl's strange ethnic necklace is really not good IMO

robinpud · 26/02/2007 10:29

nicole Kidman looked fab. Can't find a picture of Katie Holmes. Cate Blanchett looked great. Did the little girl from LMSunshine choose her own dress do you think?

MrsJohnCusack · 26/02/2007 10:29

ooooh yes
now I though Helen Mirren looked lovely, as did CAte BLanchett (she's so beautiful though).

what did you think to Nicole Kidman's? She looked less like the undead than normal, but I'm not sure I can cope with those weird bow affairs on people's dresses. Also not sure on P Cruz's, quite liked the bodice but the fluffy stuff was strange. Also don't think she should have her hair tugged back.

liked Reese Witherspoon's, also liked her hair,

HATED Beyonce's

MrsJohnCusack · 26/02/2007 10:30

oooh yes also hated Kirsten Dunst's and her HAIR was appalling

Meryl streep looked like a bag lady

JackieNo · 26/02/2007 10:30

Yes - not v stylish for the Oscars. Bit too daytime, I think.

cameron- interesting but a bit weddingy
prefer her blonde
nicole lovely hair
jodie grey- why?

MrsJohnCusack · 26/02/2007 10:31

oh (you'd think I could put this all in one post) loved Rachel Weisz's frock

can't find pick of Katie Holmes

paulaplumpbottom · 26/02/2007 10:32

Maggie, Kate & Penelope looked fabulous. What was Nicole Kidman thinking?

JackieNo · 26/02/2007 10:32

And didn't Jennifer Lopez look old.

Actually I'd originally tried to link to the Daily Mail's pics, but the link wouldn't work - they've got Katie Holmes on there, but not on the actual oscars site.

OP posts:
paulaplumpbottom · 26/02/2007 10:33

I can't find one of Katie Holmes anywhere

cremolafoam · 26/02/2007 10:34

kate wynciettte- in pale pastel
a lot of pastel and nude -yuk

JackieNo · 26/02/2007 10:35

I quite liked Kate Winslet's - not desperately keen on the colour, but I think she carried it off well.

OP posts:
paulaplumpbottom · 26/02/2007 10:37

I thought her look was classic. I liked the color, very diffrent for her.

cremolafoam · 26/02/2007 10:39

portia de rossi
a stick in bin bag

penny lope cruth- is so beautiful

JonesTheSteam · 26/02/2007 10:39

Thought Reese Witherspoon, Helen Mirren, Cate Blanchett and Jodie Foster looked lovely.

Meryl Streep -
Gwyneth Paltrow - another
Didn't like Anne Heche's dress - that big black butterfly bow was weird.

Nicole Kidman - loved the colour but what was that thing growing out of her neck?

southeastastra · 26/02/2007 10:41

they all look quite boring/styled to death apart from faye dunaway, weren't there any really bad ones?

ledodgyDave · 26/02/2007 10:42

Lol am I the only one that before clicking on 'The Smiths' in the Jackieno's link and wondered what the hell Morrisey was doing at the Oscars!

southeastastra · 26/02/2007 10:42

i did that too ledodgy

JonesTheSteam · 26/02/2007 10:42

We could have done with a 'Bjork-wearing-a-dead-swan' type dress just to liven it up, really!!!

Lucycat · 26/02/2007 10:42

I liked the green of Celine Dion's dress

Reese Witherspoon looked as gorgeous as usual, but who has told Cameron Diaz that she looks better as a brunette? wrong!

paulaplumpbottom · 26/02/2007 10:43

I think Meryl Streep must have been trying to make a "I don't take all of take seriously" statement.

JackieNo · 26/02/2007 10:45

Yes - I liked Celine Dion's dress - lovely dark green.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 26/02/2007 10:45

I wondered about 'The Smiths' too.

did NOT like Anne Hathaway's
though Maggie Gyllenhaal looked pretty nice (she has worn some awful things in the past)

also Naomi Watts looked nice, with her tiny neat little bump

Still can't find Katie H, but Posh looked pretty bad on the Daily mail site.

had not seen Linda Evangelista's sack before, hate it
