More illuminating replacement for Double Wear?

I've worn ELDW for years in Ecru. However, now at 38 it is looking a bit too chalky and is settling in the lines in my forehead. Does anyone have any recommendations for a foundation that has very good coverage (have spots) but is more dewy? I'm also wondering about brushing a radiance powder over the double Wear as an alternative.

Also adore Nars Sheer Glow. Full coverage but doesn't make my face look 1-dimensional. Absolutely love it.

I'd agree, a primer underneath makes a huge difference. Be careful with 'illuminating' products on skin with spots or pores as all it does is highlight them. I'm early 40s with visible pores so I use benefit porefessional as a primer but if you're skin is more normal or dry a different kind of formulation would be more suitable.

You can get a free sample of smash box primer on their website I think. I've also heard that Maybelline babyskin primer is a dupe for porefessional.

I moved on to Mac Studio Sculpt when the DW stoooed flattering my dry old skin.

It's great. Much more becoming.

Oh, and with the dermalogica hydrablur primer: it's truly amazing.

Oo I'm off to sleep but looking forward to reading this properly in the morning.

I found DW suddenly became too powdery and flat on me too. I tried a few others which just didn't suit and, in the end, got the Estee Lauder one with the serum in, I think it is called Perfectionist. It isn't quite as covering as the DoubleWear but is better than most I tried and is more illuminating

Howaboutthisone · 27/01/2017 22:23

I use DW light and have been feeling the same as you OP. I can't decide if it's that this foundation isn't doing anything for me or if I'm so worn out that none will at the moment. There are some really helpful tips on here!

So I'm still waiting for my life-changing primer to arrive but I've added some highlighter and a more glowy blusher. This is the result- still quite flat but I'm hoping that will be sorted by the primer.

I have controversially been mixing up foundation, bb cream, bit of Korean 'essence' and good amount of highlighter in an empty clean cushion compact - holy shit it's the holy grail, you can get it as glowy and light as you want. Means you can alter it to suit you and bash it on every day... lasts a month before you have to do it again. Life changing. Started because I bought and hated Nars sheer glow and was so sick of having ten part-used bottles of foundation and scary highlighter sitting around. Now I have them all in a Jiffy bag ready to go. Currently using mostly a blend of nars sheer glow, garnier bb, bourgeois healthy mix serum foundation, algenist glow drops or body shop tube highlighter, etude house essence from eBay - seriously if you have a nearly finished cushion around TRY IT, feel so virtuous using up all the languishing bottles and best finish I've ever had (39).

Also been using one of those toothbrush shaped makeup brushes from amazon - quite cheap and also revolutionary.

Jemimapuddleduk · 28/01/2017 14:01

Eyespy could you provide a link to the brush.
Thanks

Mac Strobe Cream under EL DW is great for giving a dewy complexion.

DragonNoodleCake · 28/01/2017 14:15

I wrong from double wear to Lancôme teint miracle couple of years back...was great for me

eyespydreams · 28/01/2017 15:59

amazon like these, I got a set of five and only use medium and small. Mine cost about £8/9?

peachypips · 28/01/2017 16:16

Oooo I need one!
