What flat casual shoes (not boots) do you wear with jeans?

I wear bootcut jeans and usually wear trainers with them, but I want to smarten up my look. Is there such a thing as smart trainers?! Brogues wouldn't go at all. Ballet shoes are too cold. I can't think what else I could wear them with.

I thought these could be the answer but sadly they're sold out in my size!

A low block heel would work with bootcuts. I can't imagine boots would work with bootcuts, they would look like 'mom boots'. I wouldn't wear ballet flats, they woukd look dated.

Doc martens.

MikeUniformMike · 22/01/2017 19:30

There are shoes that look a bit like trainers, and trainers that look a bit smarter than others. I am on the lookout for a pair.
Would flat ankle boots look ok with slimfit straight jeans? I'm thinking something like dm Emmeline boots?

Mrsmadcatlady · 22/01/2017 19:34

I live in either doc martens or converse baseball boots, I'm in my 40s and zero fecks given! I am a bit of a rocker tbh X X

I have these plus a tan shoe version, older version of these and these.

One pair of campers is now ten years old.

I usually wear converse - I have some leather ones as well.
Just bought some Woden sneakers though which I like as they're a bit different

I think Superga trainers or Converse look a bit smarter than others. I have some suede black Adidas ones that are my less casual trainers.

Or you could get chunky lace up ankle boots, with a bit of a heel if you know the sort I mean?

Thegirlisnotright · 22/01/2017 19:51

Superga. Looking for some metallic trainers for spring, like these maybe oasis

burnishedsilver · 22/01/2017 20:03

Leather converse.

ellalouise123 · 22/01/2017 21:09

Tan leather loafers (but they're still a bit cold), adidas trainers in a neutral colour - mine are rose gold or a little flat suede boot.

bingohandjob · 22/01/2017 21:55

Converse, Superga, some Clarks originals styles and their desert boots

RusholmeRuffian · 22/01/2017 22:01

I love Clarks Wallabees

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 22/01/2017 22:04

These Doc Martens. Like a pair of slippers and they go with skirts and dresses too.

I wear these boots

They are really comfortable and look smarter than trainers.

PremierCru · 22/01/2017 23:16

Amazing list for me to work my way through! Lots of suggestions I wouldn't have even considered. Thank you all! Grin

Vans slip on skater shoes or baseball boots

ArriettyClock1 · 23/01/2017 17:29

I am going through an Adidas phase.

I have Superstars with Rose Gold stripes and Gazelles in grey and blue and pale pink (may need to stop).

I wear them with skinnies though. Boot cuts are definitely not for me.
