Best hairdye for blond highlighted mousy fine hair?

I have had my highlighted forever as blond stops me looking to washed out . I am unable to afford it anymore so thinking of home dying . I am 41, shoulder length and not in great conditio after two children! Any ideas?

Let the roots grow that's dead trendy now and then keep getting it trimmed until the high lights have gone
