Damn high waisted jeans!

I'm a relatively new Apple shape since the 2nd baby and all wisdom points to apple = high waisted jeans to hold everything in.

But I've just bought some Topshop Jamie's and the blasted things end up being midrise on me after about an hour - complete with crotch sag and an arse so flat I could use it as a spirit level.

They're definitely not too big as I bought them a size down and they are sprayed on.

What am I missing? Everyone goes on about high waisted jeans being the saviour of apples!

They hold their shape so well, in fact River Island denim in general is usually pretty good

I have just bought a pair of Gap Girlfriend jeans. Will try them on tonight and report back on the fit - they look spacious though so suspect I might have to exchange for a smaller size.

I find that mine fall down when they are too small maybe try a size up

Usual pear shape story - fits ok on legs and bum but gapes at waist. I will try a size down to see if I can squeeze bum in, but might mean they are good for apple shapes?

Have a look in Next. I NEVER normally try their jeans but they had a great pair of high waisted ones in there the other day. They were a lovely dark navy, inky colour with no horrible cheap looking fading. The most amazing fit on waist and not too tight on lower leg (but still very slim). Honestly, they were lovely.

It's definitely possible to size down too much. I've put on a bit of weight recently due to medication and high waisted jeans that used to fit perfectly are now starting to slide down. They're needing to stretch so much width ways that they're refucing in length to make up for it. They can't get shorter at the cuff because of the way they're cut, but they can get shorter from the top and end up dragging themselves down. So I'd definitely suggest trying the next size up.

Thanks Mumsnetters! I did not realise River Island have a plus size. I just looked on the site and see that they do! Obvs it will only be mail order or very limited in shops (Just like Next).
