How long would it take a pixie cut to grow out?

I'm thinking a year? 18 months? Love my hair short but thinking of a change. Not sure I have the patience to manage the horrid inbetween stage though!

Ha, did laugh at "day 1" Mayor I recently saw an old friend who had a pixie cut (and looking fab) when I saw her 18 months ago. Saw her a few months ago and it was past her shoulders - heading towards armpit length(!)

I'm putting it down to her being pregnant for 90% of that time, but it was such a surprise.

Just found this thread, is there an update Op?

I remember reading this in January and I've been thinking about growing out my pixie ever since - decided this weekend it is a definite - last had my hair cut 21st Feb so already at the awkward sticking out over the ears bit.

Looking over pictures from the last time I grew it out it's about 14months to a jaw length bob I'm hoping I get to a decent style by June when I'm going away for a weekend.

I'm 7 months into growing out a pixie and the shortest bit is now just under my ear. Longest bit about halfway down my neck. I used to have one side shaved though so obviously that side is a bit shorter but it doesn't look too bad now.

I haven't had it cut at all. The plan is to see how it looks after a year and then hopefully either have it cut to a bob/long bob style.
Having heard all the horror stories about 'the mullet', I was terrified that I was going to turn into Billy Ray Cyrus, but it hasn't happened. The back is uneven, but it looks okay.

After starting in August, I almost cracked in November (when it looked its worst) but then in December I had a bit of a growth spurt and have had another one this month, so it's not as bad as I feared.

I found this blog quite good:

Thanks for that blog! It was really interesting!!!

Last time I grew it out I didn't get it cut and then went into a hairdresser to cut the mullet tuft off and they set me back a bit - I have a gap of photos when it was at the horrible stage and remember feeling really crappy about my hair - although that was improved when I added colours so maybe I will be spending my cash I'm saving on cuts on dye.

Do you have a goal for where you want your hair to be?

HildaZelda · 25/03/2018 21:30

I'm going to try and leave it until August. It'll be a year then, and see how it looks. Initially I was thinking I'd go for a bob, but I think I might aim for a long bob now. Will see how it looks in about 6 months.
I have debated getting the back trimmed, but I think it'll set me back again and as it doesn't look too mullet like (more just uneven) I'm going to persevere for now.

Also I'm scared if I go to the hairdresser and tell them I want 'a trim', I could be back to square one again!

@doctorboo. Loved your shirt “do”.

It took me 18+ months. It’s now at bra strap and I’m getting itchy feet and googling “short hair” 😐

I'm still growing my hair out - is anyone else?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/08/2018 22:20

I'm sort of trying .... I grew my hair a bit but it needed styled with the Babylis and it was baking my scalp (I looked like Micky Flanagan Blush )

Got the back cropped but kept longer top layers with the intention of growing it from there.
Like the blog up above , it's a pain stage , gets in my eyes . I need to invest in a hair grippy thingie .

DD went from pixie last September and is currently a below ear bob. Expecting it to be top of shoulders around Xmas-ish
