I regularly wear a pair of Gap size 8 (UK) long & lean jeans. Today, I tried a pair of Gap size 10 (UK)skinny fit and could I get them past my hips? No. I thought I had made enough adjustment for the cut by going up a size.
Very at Gap.
How can this be?

their labelling is a bit hit-and-miss

I have a skirt labelled as a US size 4 (ie a UK 8) and there is no way my arse is an 8.

strick with the long and leans, they're much nicer in a any case.

I am a 10 sometimes in Gap, but rarely

12 most places

and in H&M I struggle to fit in their 12's

all shops are different, I usually take a 12 and a 14 in to try on so you don't have to faff about getting dressed again and getting another size

skinny jeans make most people look odd imo

inanidealworld · 21/02/2007 14:31

icod the trouble is none of the sizes I tried fitted properly in that style so bang goes my thoughts of the skinny ankle skimming jeans with little ballerina pumps look.
Olive Oil - yes but in the same store?

i'm a biggish size 14 bottom in most places, but i couldn't even do up a pair of gap 18s. the shop assistant was flabbergasted and i was rather humiliated.

inanidealworld · 21/02/2007 14:36

And I thought being an American brand Gap would be a bit generous in their sizing.

fishie don't get me started on bums! I have what you might call a bit of a 'shelf' bum which makes it hard to find a trousers where the bum fits without the waist being way too big. Although must admit those days are less frequent with my fairly recently acquired muffin top of a tummy courtesy of 2 babies.

i bet they aren't three sizes bigger than usual [sulks]. good bargain though.

idealworld unfortunately i have not been issued with a bottom, just a big tum. i know which i'd rather have!

brimfull · 21/02/2007 19:01

it all depends on the age of the child that made them

I still buy them though

Gap sizes are defo hit and miss. Have 3 pairs of Long and Leans, think 2 8's and 1 10. All fit more or less the same. I have Slim Boot Cut which are v nice shape and a good compromise when I am pretending to be a bit more 'with it'.
