What's the best liquid hand soap?!

Wasn't sure if this comes under S&B or housekeeping but what's the best liquid hand soap?!

I'm basing this on 2 main factors, smell and poshness of the bottle Blush Basically, what smells nice AND looks nice on your bathroom sink.

(Have tried decanting into a dispenser and got bored of it after a year or two so now I'm just interested in ones that already come in a nice bottle...)

My default is Cowshed or REN
If I had an unlimited budget, it would be Aesop. It's lovely but insanely expensive

And I think Molton Brown is a bit mid-range gastro pub and naff
Most of the fragrances are nasty and overpowering
And it's chock full of nasty chemicals and parabans as well, so wouldn't want to use it regularly unless I want cracked hands

Loccitaine lavender wash and hand creme or the verbena version in plastic bottles so no worries if they slide into the basin, they'll not shatter.

Liz Earle wash and also has a lovely hand creme to pair it with.

I have atopic dermatitis and anything else irritates my skin, apart from something like a paraffin based emulsion likes aqueous creme, absolutely not a fancy tub.

I didn't know that about Molten Brown sparechange I thought it was good stuff.

Are there any good sale offers on nice hand wash at the moment?

justpoppy · 02/01/2017 23:45

I love molton brown rhubarb and rose but more because of the fragrace than the actual product.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/01/2017 07:04

Came on to say Aesop resurrection hand wash. It's £28 ( I know!) but it lasts in our bathroom ( 2 people plus regular visitors) for about 8 months and I absolutely love the smell. When it gets about a quarter down I usually add a little water to bulk it out to no discernible detriment.

Flingmoo · 03/01/2017 09:35

Ooooh so many choices! I'm in hand soap heaven Grin I am tempted to invest in one of the more expensive ones as a treat. I think I've still got some John Lewis vouchers to use Smile

Second Noble Isle! Lasts well (10 months in my cloakroom) and in the Whisky and Water fragrance it makes a splendid gift for Scots, malt whisky drinkers and men generally. It's powerful, and really not suitable in the kitchen though. TK Maxx supplies handwash for kitchens and everyday use.

Botanicbaby · 03/01/2017 12:00

Agree loccitane brown glass bottles look nice and it lasts for ages.

Also Roger et gallet is lovely soap.

user1471446905 · 03/01/2017 14:44

Aesop, Noble isle (rhubarb) and Diptyque are all amazing

sparechange · 03/01/2017 14:47

Cowshed comes up in Brandalley and SecretSales flash sales quite regularly, REN occasionally...

BringMeTea · 05/01/2017 15:03

Totally enabled by this thread have just bought some Espa hand wash in their sale. Grin

WhereDoAllThePokemonGo · 05/01/2017 19:54

Not expensive, but I really like the Persian Pink Pepper handwash from Scottish Fine Soaps. Also picked up a couple of the Orla Kiely hand wash and lotion gift sets for £7 during the Boots half price sale. They are nice and the bottles are pretty!

Emerald123 · 05/01/2017 23:58

T.K.Maxx definitely. I have an Italian brand - Profumi 20 in bergamot and verbena
Smells amazing, posh bottle, think. It was £3.99

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 06/01/2017 00:02

Some random bottle from TK Maxx or Waitrose own brand.

purpleshortcake · 06/01/2017 00:17

Underbeneath are both of those suitable for your dermatitis? I get eczema and cracking on my hands and was resigned to prescription stuff for hand washing which all smell and feel like lard

Fairylea · 06/01/2017 07:07

I've tried loads from expensive to cheap and the best one I've found is actually Tesco value handwash! Blush It's about 50p a bottle I think. Smells nice - like magnolia type bubble bath- and doesn't irritate my dermatitis hands. I love it! The bottle isn't posh though but it's worth decanting it if you like it.

Finbar · 06/01/2017 07:14

Waitrose own brand and particularly the Ginger & Clementine scent.

mowglik · 06/01/2017 09:26

Elemis handwash is lovely on the hands and the smell lingers for ages. Molton brown and Jo Malone ones are also good but I prefer elemis atm.

Aldi 'posh' handwash smells similar to molton brown but the smell doesn't last at all - still a good choice at 89p!

CallarMorvern · 06/01/2017 11:22

Method here, limited edition pomegranate at the moment, but normally pink grapefruit. I do love looking at all the lovely bottles in TKMaxx, but never buy any. To the person who mentioned Cowshed, there was a whole shelf end of it in our TKMaxx yesterday.

UnderbeneathsiesTheMistletoe · 11/01/2017 02:44

Yes, purple, they are the only ones which don't set me off. I have to rinse well, and then use the hand creme when wet and then towel off.

If I use soap or any other liquid soap I'm in trouble. I actually carry a little travel sized spray bottle of loccitaine lavender liquid hand wash (mixed with water) with me wherever I go.
