Gel extensions

I'm a nail biter, so a few years back I used to have gel extensions and then infills every couple of weeks. I was always very pleased with them and they looked very natural.

Anyhow, I had a set of gel extensions done this morning (plastic tips, then gel overlays) and I'm so disappointed with them.

The gel isn't smooth, and where it meets my cuticles it looks ragged and uneven. They just look messy and amateurish.

Can I ask how good your gels look? Maybe I have imagined how good mine used to look, and this is as good as it gets?

I'll try and take a photo so you can see what I'm on about...

It's my own fault, caused by years of biting. My fingers are actually quite long, I have a full octave stretch Grin

Will do a round in the morning, but not hopeful...

MrsA2015 · 30/12/2016 23:05

I reckon you could get them done tomorrow morning, get to somewhere as soon as it opens should leave you plenty of time.

I think yours would definitely look better a bit longer.

These are mine they cost £25 for tips and gel coat.

Are people looking at different photos? I really don't think they are that bad, it's not as if people will be looking really close up to your nails and will notice how thick the varnish is.

I actually think it's the colour that's the main issue.

Couldn't you just go and buy a nice dark colour and paint over your nails?

DaftJelly · 31/12/2016 14:06

Do you have a walk in nail bar anywhere locally? I live in a small town and we have three. You don't need an appointment.

MaQueen · 31/12/2016 15:11

Couldn't find a nail tech, so painted them darker. Opinions...?

Much better darker!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 31/12/2016 15:29

Was just about to say it's the colour that's wrong. Much better darker!

£20-£25 is very pricey for a friend doing it though- I pay £17 to a woman who works from home and is very experienced.

kel12345 · 31/12/2016 15:33

They don't look great. Sorry. I have long extensions and the gel is always smooth. I've had gel and acrylic and they are always smooth and even.

Badhairday1001 · 31/12/2016 15:38

Loads better!

BakeOffBiscuits · 31/12/2016 15:49

Much better!

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/12/2016 18:36

Better darker.
Can you grow/strengthen your nails though, natural nails always look better.
