Fishnet tights?

I fancy getting some black fishnet tights to wear with a short black skirt and Dr Martens boots. I already wear the skirt and boots with black or coloured tights. Am mid 30s and wear docs all the time, that's the kind of style I tend towards.

However, I mentioned the fishnets to DP and got a weird face back. Apparently 'people' don't wear fishnets like that any more and they're just a bedroom kind of thing.

I don't think they're completely mainstream, I know they wouldn't be suitable for work/interview/funeral type situations but for going out of a weekend or a party, would they be okay or would I look like I've gone out with lingerie on?

Are there supportive strapless bras?

I've never needed a lot of bra support and now I'm a bit helpless, tbh 🙈🙈

The wonderbra strapless bra is incredible. Holds everything up and doesn't move all day. The only issue is the band size runs incredibly small, I'm a 32 band and have to buy 36 in that one and a smaller cup size. Best thing to do is to go try it on. Amazing bra though.

Satan

Oh... thanks. that's awesome.:)

I have so few non-work clothes that work with bra straps. And the few that do all seem to showcase my tattoo (grumble)

Somebody posted a pic of Alexa Chung wearing fishnets with a longish skirt. She is fabulous and looks good in everything. But then she has excellent taste.

Having read this, I was queuing up next to a young woman in a shop this lunchtime who was wearing chunky boots, fishnets and a short black skater skirt. She looked early-to-mid twenties and had a bit of a goth look to her. She carried it off.

Thanks for all the feedback, a bit of a mixed bag but has reassured me that it's not a completely hideous idea. Obviously some people won't agree, if that's not the kind of thing you think looks nice fair enough.

I would like my style to be a bit more punky/gothy than it currently is. Current style is a sort of washed out leggings and t-shirt with docs look, because I've kind of lost myself in just being a mum to a toddler and I want to get myself back a bit.

I like the fishnets over coloured ideas, and the patterned opaques one too. If you picked up some lacy patterned tights the other day so I'll see how they look. Love the big fishnets, had some years ago and wore them a lot.
