I have decided that perhaps jeans aren't my best look; boutght some great smart/combat trouser ( if there is such a thing) and now am stcuk for what footwear shoudl go with them
What do you think?
I love trainers but don't want to look like a student ( I'm the wrong side of 40!)

PS have forgotten to change my name back after a recent thread - am not trying to draw attention to this thread by use of the word COd!!)

have you a pic?
smart combat trousers are difficult to visualise.
where are they from?

Carmenere · 18/02/2007 16:59

I have a pair of well worn black converse plimsolls that do the job nicely.

LIZS · 18/02/2007 16:59

I wear either Skechers or chunky pseudo Timberland boots with mine but they are casual not smart !

codsonlymate · 18/02/2007 17:02

First pair are from..ahem..Boden ( they are called Utility trouser and they are actaully great fitting on me - hurrah!), the others are Principles - so we're not talking grunge cutting edge here!

www.boden.co.uk/col.asp?segname=Women&styid=WM211&segid=6&gpname=Trousers&desname=Utility+Trousers&gpid=23&gen=

Not sure if that will work

I have to admit that cod had recommended said boots - I though they might be too chunky - No?

She's out today so I can post with impunity!

Iwear a thin soled yoga type trainer with mine. Or a pair of chunky soled chelsea type boots.

expatinscotland · 18/02/2007 17:08

Timberlands or walking boots.

MrsBadger · 18/02/2007 17:12

I wear urban Merrell-types with mine, or the famous Wrangler boots as per the fish.

codsonlymate · 18/02/2007 17:13

votes seem to be going for the boot option. Where do you get yours from?

Sorry - ...I've only ever worn trainers before with them and are v.v.interseted to see what you style gurus wear.
Thanks y'all

I got my walking boots on sale in Hawkshead.

LIZS · 18/02/2007 17:18

Mine were from Next - we have an outlet store nearby so they were about £15 !

codsonlymate · 18/02/2007 17:35

could I be really cheeky and ask you for a link if you can find one?
Then I promise to go away!!

I wear my timberlands with my combats! Love em.

MrsBadger · 18/02/2007 17:40

Thread passim here - boots are third down here .
Mine are waxy leather, think Cod's are suede though.

pointydog · 18/02/2007 17:43

oh no. not those lumberjack boots

Bucketsofdynomite · 18/02/2007 17:45

Vans trainers are cool at any age but cheapest to buy them in the US so start saving for a holiday!

codsonlymate · 18/02/2007 18:22

Ah pointydog - you see not everyone goes for teh boots look - that's what I was wondering about; hence the thread.

a friend of mine wears em with kitten heeled ankle boots the same colourand it actually works. But she's one of them naturally stylish types, makes me look unbalanced when I try.

ledodgy · 18/02/2007 18:33

What about flat ankle pixie boots? I have some and they're very versatile. Also as trousers would cover the tops they wouldn't look too young either iyswim.

ledodgy · 18/02/2007 18:33

great minds meowmix.

PestoMonster · 18/02/2007 18:54

I wear pink timberlands with mine. Got them from Costco - half price there

paulaplumpbottom · 18/02/2007 20:21

What about a pair of Nike flat Mary Jane style tennis shoes.
