OK, christening tomorrow. Smart casual but more smart than jeans. I have been quite ill this week so not done my usual trying stuff on that i usually do. My old faithful black trousers will only fasten with the aid of an elastic band and i thought i would wear my one and only dress over them except that the dress is knee length and i think its a bit long I have no money (and i don't drive) or i would be on my way to 24hr tesco.

I have NO nice tops...you'd think i had noticed by now but no i have been under the illusion that i will be able to fit back in them after babies....

Sorry rambling....is the dress too long to wear over trousers? I won't feel comfortable in just the dress and the only boots i have look odd with it anyway or am i going to have to iron some jeans and a plain top?

knee length would work ove rtrousers I rekcon try them on and see if not what about dress, boots and thickish tights?

MerlinsBeard · 17/02/2007 22:31

i tried them and it was okish but wasn't sure. I don't think i have any tights, DP has an aversion to them so i think i threw them away, my boots are knee length and dress comes to knee cap sowould only have my knees showinganyway

I'd forget the trousers then , dress and boots sound fab.

PeachesMcLean · 17/02/2007 22:34

I'd certainly wear knee length boots with a knee length dress. Why do you think they look odd?

MerlinsBeard · 17/02/2007 22:36

no tights. Am not a dress wearer usually-hence the panic, am too worried about doing a marilyn monroe lol thanks for your help

I'm not a dress person either but if you're wearing it with boots it's fine, not as dressy or as vulnerable iyswim.

its a kind of wrap dress with a tie underneath the bust so couldn't belt it even if i did have a belt to match...dress is greys and black stripes and only belt i have that my sister hasn;t nabbed is a big HUGE brown one!

I always feel a bit erm wafty in dresses - this'll teach me to be ill GRR
