Recommend me your go to sites for 'quirky' dresses.

And by quirky I do not mean fucking Lindy Bop/Vic of Holloway stuff.

I like unusual prints and vintage silhouettes (40's tea dresses, 60's shifts). Have been trawling the usual fashion sites and can't find anything that tickles me. Found one tea dress on topshop but am not paying £48 for polyester.

Any recs?

Dig for victory. They are on etsy.

toejamfootball · 07/12/2016 22:21

I often like the things they link to here:

Retro to Go

for example they had an article on this dress here:

retro shift dress

which linked to here:

Top Vintage

Disclaimer: Have never bought from them, but they do seem to have some interesting dresses that reference a few different fashion eras

minihobbit · 07/12/2016 22:34

Anthropologie?

slug · 07/12/2016 22:41

Revival Retro. Not cheap but interesting stuff. They have a shop in London which regularly drains my bank account

Had forgotten about Top Vintage so will reacquaint myself. Thank you Smile.

Emily and Fin are my all time favourites, and bonus basically always have pockets in their dresses. Also a big fan of Love Ur Look, who have lots of quirky design touches in their dresses (and do excellent sales if you find them out of budget).

Fibbertigibbet · 08/12/2016 13:00

Oh, also Hearts and Found, who are on Etsy. Custom made dresses for around £60- sorted!

Rustythedog · 08/12/2016 15:06

I take it you are looking for quirky not retro?

Somebody linked a dress from Monki yesterday which I thought was nice and very reasonably priced. I looked at their website and amongst a lot that aren't to my taste, there were some nice dresses. Desigual is another if they are even still going?

JohnCheese · 08/12/2016 15:18

What about Dawn Porter's shop? Bob or bop or something. Hang on.

Here it is

Have never bought from there, (not a vintage person) so I can't vouch for quality etc. Love the 1960's fashion tho.

HighHopes16 · 08/12/2016 15:24

I would say Joy is quite quirky?

Rustythedog · 08/12/2016 15:37

There are lovely clothes on the Joy website

Revealall · 08/12/2016 15:58

Get Cutie? Some nice prints as well as bonkers ones. Pencil dresses are to die for - so flattering but there are lots of different shapes.

Chicwish (circle skirts with digitally printed photos on them), Victory Parade, Love Ur Look.

Aspire clothing. Shops in the Midlands & online. Various brands.

donajimena · 08/12/2016 19:25

Atom Retro?

PotOfYoghurt · 08/12/2016 20:17

Modcloth. I wish it had a UK site too, but it's probably just as well as I'd spend far too much. They do have a great returns policy though.

MixedUpConfusion · 08/12/2016 20:36

I saw a lovely skirt and jumper in Look magazine with people printed on them. Bit out of my price range but they're from Benetton:

PurpleNurple69 · 08/12/2016 20:47

Shamelessly place marking - I love a bit of quirk me!

My go to store is Joe Browns but I don't know how if that's the type of quirky you're looking for?

What's wrong with Lindy Bop? Serious question.

Pangur2 · 08/12/2016 21:15

I like Lindy Bop's recent cotton dresses with London/ New York/ San Fran etc prints on them. Their bloody sizing is mental though. No consistency. That can be really annoying!
