Cod u are great. Am going out late morning. 1st message really rushed as had to get dd to school bus.

I like the Hobbs stuff you've posted and there's one i can reach. I also like Jigsaw, sometimes Whistles, the less hippy Monsoon things, etc etc. Too late for Boden..Prices OK, thiugh dh would like the budget to be £0000."Can't you wear a dress you've got..?"

Basically although I'm 42 i scrub up OK; would like to look 30+ while avoiding the muuton dressed as lamb look.

I'm a nightmare then. I need to get into the shops quickly, then escape quickly, as will have the 3 ds's with me . Some great ideas here but will look again to see if you or anyone else has further advice.
Thanks !

Cod, anniemac and Mrs Badger - thank you all so much ! I was steered quickly to all the right shops and I HAVE A DRESS. It's a silk wrap from LK Bennett - not cheap but i think quite versatile (or I can eBay it later). Can't find a picture but it's got a good heavy silky drape (cold venue for wedding !) and an interesting geometric/ribbony monochromatic print. Already have a cropped chunky black belted jacket for outerwear, so sorted !

Cod I first went to Hobbs and tried on the central dress in your first link - also available with black edging/ greeny pattern, but it just didn't fit me well. Shame because I liked it. Plus ds3 (3) embarrassed me in there by hoicking back the curtains and talking loudly about my tummy.....so I was glad to get the shopping ordeal over by then.

Thanks again.

Just back from wedding. lots of compliments !

But can't find picture of it on the web to do a link.

Anyway if anyone else has a smart "do" to attend they might find all this advice useful!

..yes. Thanks.
didn't realise until Thurs. night that I didn't have a suitable dress - found that the one in my wardrobe I wanted to wear suddenly looked v. shabby, not having given it a second glance in ages.

Glad I made the effort, lots of women though not all had hats, and ALL the men were in morning suits.
