What to wear with this dress (from one who has no clue!)

Hi, rather excited as I today purchased a lovely dress for a Christmas party and hope it may also be suitable for a Christmas wedding (is a bit of black still a huge no no if accesoriesed properly?).
The dress is a black lace overlaying a nude coloured underlay. What colour shoes or tights to wear? I think a shawl would do wonders covering upper arms? Any ideas oh glam ones 😬

Whether you can wear it to a wedding will depend on what sort of wedding it is, I think.

You might be able to wear a shawl, but be careful you don't start to slip into Italian Widow style

I would look for bronzey or rose gold accessories (shoes and bag). What size / shape feet do you have? Budget? Heels or not?

A pashmina the colour of the underlay, and go for nude tights and shoes for the wedding, basically the same color as the underlay, you can get away with black tights and shoes for the Xmas party,

You stars... thank you. I would like to invest in a comfortable pair of nude high heels and the pashmina sounds like a great idea.

Nice dress but I'd avoid a shawl, as it will definitely veer to Greek widow, I think. For Christmas party. just a cropped black cardigan should be fine. For a winter wedding, maybe a little fur cape thing?

You can get silk and cashmere pashinas on Amazon, think they're about twenty quid as they are seconds basically, but you genuinely would never know. I have a very pale gold one, amongst others, which would go well. They are also very thin but surprisingly warm, and they look a million times more expensive than any of the woollen ones uou get on the high street. Normally they retail for well over a hundred pound, have a search on line.

I also use mine for travelling for chilly planes or hotel rooms, and they can also be folded up and used as scarves.
