Will someone explain Jane Norman to me?

Not one of my usual shops, but nipped in because I liked the colour of something.

Is it a teenage shop? It felt like it, and looked like it. Also had crap changing rooms, and sizes were quite small. All this would indicate a crap, cheap shop.

Buuuuuuut, prices expensive, more like Next or Principles. Why am I confused, will someone expain to me?

IW, look on my myspace there are some definitely not attractive photos on there. my space

VoodooWizbit · 14/02/2007 12:02

I am just biased as the sluttiest slut in Manc who I work with ONLY buys from there.

nappyaddict · 14/02/2007 12:03

i dont get this only buying from one shop. it takes me a good few days to shop around and find what i like usually. if i just went to one shop id drive myself crazy by not being able to find the perfect outfit!

VoodooWizbit · 14/02/2007 12:05

i love jane norman trousers

nappyaddict · 14/02/2007 12:09

have you seen the ones of me in a red top on myspace? they are sooooo not attractive. i'd given birth 7 hrs previous fgs!!

monkeymonkeymoomoo · 14/02/2007 12:11

Does anyone look good having given birth a few hours ago!? I looked like a wrinkled giant cream puff with birds nest hair (result of spending hours in a pool with the central heating turned up!).

IntergalacticWalrus · 14/02/2007 12:14

But NA, My face looked like it had caved in for the first 7 months after giving birth!

You are allowed to not look your best 7 hours after giving birth, you know. But you still manage to look good

Whereas, I still lol like the lovechild of Bella Emberg and Les Dawson

I find it a useful "filler" shop for DD. She's 11, but would be in "age 13" clothes or sometimes a Size 6, of which there is scant choice on the high street, IMO.

We buy her the less ghastly/ cheap/ tarty stuff from BHS/ Tammy Girl and she's had a few bits from Jane Norman. Next and Gap seem to do very few of their lines for that size.

monkeymonkeymoomoo · 14/02/2007 12:17

birds nest hairhere

twinsetandpearls · 14/02/2007 12:20

they make clothes for hookers when business is slow.

twinsetandpearls · 14/02/2007 12:21

sorry twelveyeargap thatteaches me to postwithout reading the whole thread!

nappyaddict · 14/02/2007 12:39

monkey you could have warned that i would see bloody and yucky stuff!! see there's the 18 year old in me! you'd never have thought i had a baby ... actually ds didn't come out with any blood on him which was a bit odd!

monkeymonkeymoomoo · 14/02/2007 12:47

Hehe NA guess it was literally a blood bath - many apologies! She only had a bit of 'gunk' on her head, the rest of her was pretty clean.

But you take my point about post labour beauty (lack of)

Wags · 14/02/2007 12:53

Oooh, I used to shop in Jane Norman when I was in my early 20's... and that is 20 years ago!!! Have to admit, haven't been inside a Jane Norman lately . In the good old days it was similar price to Top Shop but probably not quite so trendy - a step up from Martin Ford though, anyone remember Martin Ford?! Miss Selfridge was also more trendy than Jane Norman as well. I used to get short skirts and big plastic belts and lots of tacky ear rings in Jane Norman, oh and fluffy off the shoulder jumpers. Ah.. you young things, it takes me back.

Wags · 14/02/2007 12:55

Just to add to that, I might have been young, but NEVER small, so Jane Norman always used to cater up to a size 14 definately, not sure about 16. I was a 14 and thought I was REALLY overweight . I would have described it as a late teens/early 20's shop back then, definately not a Miss Etam/Chelsea Girl type of shop.

UM ...well thanks...! Obviously not a place for an old age mum of 2 like myself then!

Don't remember it from when I was young.....But used to hang round Afflecks Palace in Manchester then, not really a Jane Norman type of place!

< scuttles of to hide Jane Norman mistake buy at back of wardrobe>

@ twinsetandpearls.

I've occasionally bought her "disco" outfits for the end of camp there and that kind of thing. She's not allowed to wear belly tops etc.

LolitaSweet · 25/09/2013 00:37

I love Jane Norman clothes their sizing is perfect
