Spring HoC experts.? What do you find to wear in winter.... shall l wait till spring?

I did my colours day on Saturday and raring to go and buy some bright winter clothes...but everything is very muted and autumn coloured! I've found a jumper in Gap, but not sure whether l should just wait till spring!? I can change my basic t shirts from white to cream .... do Spring people just wait?! Till spring..? Any spring or blue spring people about for advice....it was a great day btw!

I noticed this, lots of rust & mustard colours. I've got a very pale grey thin jumper & a dark jade green jumper recently (think these would be spring??)

Blue Spring here (blonde/blue eyes). Its a pain isnt it. Raring to go and nothing in the shops!

What i do is concentrate on my neutrals. Being a blue spring these will be the cooler neuteals such as dark and light grey, navy, & warm white. I tend to buy tops in lighter colours (dove grey/ivory) and bottoms in darker colours (dark grey & navy) Then as winter comes in you can add a bright red scarf etc. I actually think that all the burgundy stuff out at tge moment is great for us and works well with our pallet as long as you keep it away from your face.

e.g. I bought some burgundy coated skinny jeans and a big bag today. Loojs great with grey.

Its tricky but not impossible.

Are you blonde or dark?

I'm blonde ish, or rather l was as a child!!! Now, it's highlighted mousey Brown with grey bits too!! But l do have blue eyes. I found a couple of bright long sleeved tops in Dorothy Perkins ( bright navy and a warm red/ pink ish one) and a red and light grey basic jersey ling sleeved tops in gap.
Today at an outlet place l bought a coral coat , hoping that l will wear it in the spring with confidence!!! I'm sure with jeans it will look casual and ok! But very much out of my comfort zone....and my hubby did a second take when he saw it!! Not the usual dog walking khaki green!!
I'm quite enjoying knowing a bit more about what l should buy ... and l like your colour combination suggestions...think I'll buy the Next coated navy leggings...just need a nice top/ sparkly jumper for Christmas...any suggestions welcome.

The Next coated leggings are amazing. I love mine. Ill have a look for suitable tops this weekend. Are you going to change your hair to a suitably btight colour now youve been 'done?' I went from mousy to bombshell blonde and its so flatteting on my face. I love it. Bloody expensive though at £150 every eight weeks.

Oasis is really good for bright springs. As is Ted Baker and Karen Millen. Try those.

Thanks for those suggestions I'll definitely have a look next time I'm in town. Know l know my colours l feel happier spending a bit more...as l was fed up of buying things that never seemed quite right.
As for my hair, yes I'm going for highlights soon....not too much of a change as up keep would be expensive!! But l shall ask for brighter,lighter tones. And I'm unsure about the style...it's a longish, shoulder lenght Bob but keeps flicking out and looks a bit untidy...thinking of a shorter slightly inverted sleek Bob! When it's longer it seems to pull down my square face and the side ish fridge does hide my eyes...which are a decent feature.... decisions,decisions!!!

Winter is always a trickier time to be a Spring, but this season is exceptionally shit IMO. There are some nice neutrals around though - camel, dove grey, bright navy. Kettlewell good for coloured basics, although not high fashion. I usually find things for Springs in H&M, sometimes Zara, Cos, anthropologie.

I've ordered a few different gold and sparkly shell pink jumpers from Wallis to try on. Boden and Zara are good for spring reds.

I agree this season is dire. I can't find any dove grey, camel or chocolate brown. There is some nice tan about. It's such a change from earlier this year, when I couldn't walk into a shop without gathering up armfuls of lovely reds, pinks & oranges.

I've changed my hair from light ash blonde to honey/beige blond which I think makes me look much classier

Yes l agree. Lots of dull, drab dirty looking colours...and of course lots of black. I had a quick look at wallis and they have a few nice jumpers that would be good...a cream one with sparkly bits! I looked at my colours again today and I've got quite a few that are neutral..dove grey, light dove grey and cream. Chocolate and a tan aren't bad either...bet m and s have some brown 5 pocket leggings... that and bright navy...l fear l won't look like a rainbow as l feared at first...just as well l like shopping ( mainly window,due to budget!😞 )

J crew has lots of lovely brights, keeping an eye on them for sale.

OP it takes a while! I nearly cried with my diagnosis when I went to the shops mid winter and it was all dusty pink/slurry apart from one hideous bright yellow jumper that was like a big bird costume. Then I bought a v expensive bra on sale in cream with yellow trim and it all clicked, so flattering and it gives you so much confidence to buy colour!

This week's stylist mag had three pages of fashion in yellow, warm red and bright blue, not sure if they'd have it online?

I agree that that there is not a huge amount around. I am occasionally finding some good tan items atm. Need to be careful as some tan is not quite right but it's great when you find a good clear brightish one.

In the winter oversized scarves can be helpful. There is a bright blue one in Cos currently. I think I also saw some spring ones in Other Stories.

Cos has a few other bright blue items currently (although in general their colours are wrong). There is a nice bright blue top on their site. Also try Uterque which has a few bright red items.

Eyespy - could you link to anything inspiring on the J crew site? I've never shopped there before but I love the classic American look.

Everything I ordered from Wallis is going back. All dirty sludgey colours.

That Wallis cream jumper was the one l quite fancied...is the shape a bit boxy? I could do with some bottom half ideas...do jeans...and have got the navy coated leggings in next, which are really the same as jeans!! My first year of wearing my colours during the festive season....what will l wear?! My black skinny jeans are a no no!!!! I know....navy skinny jeans😄

I thought that buying clothes would be easier now I know my colour - but now I'm not so sure!
