2 night break in Edinburgh and need to travel light as I'll need to carry it all the first day.

Plan is Christmas market and sightseeing first afternoon/evening, walk up Arthur's Seat Saturday morning followed by a wander round the city. Dinner out (Whiski Rooms) then home next morning.

I'll wear a big parka and I know I want to wear my dark blue skinny jeans for the dinner.

What else can I should I take that I can mix and match?

Go to the hotel and leave bags, then out for the evening. Flat ankle boots should be fine for most walking. Parka to dinner - it'll be cold!

I'd do:

1st night - wear - jeans, boots, jumper, coat, thin 'dressy' scarf for travel and pub
Day 2 - pretty much the same as 1st night - clean undies, socks and t-shirt - trainers if you want to
NIght 2 dinner - tights, jersey dress (will fold up small), boots, parka
Morning to leave - pretty much the same as day one

Sightseeing time is all day Saturday and maybe a couple of hours Sunday am.

Ok, if it was me or my guests I'd suggest:
Wander through Princes St Gardens
Walk up the Mound to the old town
Up to the castle, a wander down beautiful Victoria St for shops etc.
Lunch in The Outsider or Spoon
Then walk down Royal Mile, stopping in for a Mary Kings Close tour on way down, plus Camera Obscura. Right down to Holyrood and Holyrood Park.
Then evening - drinks and dinner and some fairground stuff/ice skating in Princes St Gardens
Sunday - Arthur's Seat climb after brekkie
