Battered-looking boots wanted....

Hello, I'm at the end of my tether and unless you guys can help me I'm just going to wear flip flops all winter and probably get frostbite. So no pressure Grin

I really want some ankle/calf boots. I want to wear them with dresses and skinny jeans. I would really like grey but will settle for black. But I REALLY REALLY want them to look tough and weathered and like I've had them for 15 years and wear them to work on a building site. Also they MUST be flat, sturdy and leather (suede is not my friend). The other thing is that I have big feet.

So far I like:

these but not brown
these but they look a bit shiny

these but they are too tight at the top - I feel I need some volume around the ankle to stop my feet looking disproportionate (which they are!!!)

I would be so grateful if anyone could help......

Blundstone - possibly too plain for you. Warm, dry, hardwearing. Excellent on my wide feet. The half sizes are the same length as the full size, but wide. So in Clarks I get 8 wide, in Blundstone I get 7.5.

And I do wear mine to work in a building site, but change into safety boots when I am out of the car park.

I have all of the Hudsons linked to - the Horrigans I find true to size but mine are suede so softer.
The Encke have taken some wearing in, so you might need to size up
Have a look at the Hudson Riley too - I've got brown and black but the brown is a much we tighter fit so remain unworn!
The Tatham are lovely!! Quite a loose fit with being pull on but toasty warm Shame you're not a 5 as I have a brand new pair spare

bike jealous that you get to work in a building site and wear lovely boots all day!!! Those are exactly the right ruggedness but I am not a fan of the Chelsea boot look sadly.

chish I ADORE those, esp the third pair but I think they would not be practical for the park. I want them though. Maybe I'll ask for them for Xmas.

I think I would be v happy with either the uggs or the Hudson tatham. Pros for the Uggs - I know exactly what size I am and could just order, my ones I have now are immensely comfy and totally weatherproof. Pros of the tathams - nice to have a change, leather all the way up, also apparently weatherproof. Can you walk in them though? These boots will clock up miles....

Thanks again guys!

Hudson ones really comfy. Lots of styles this year are lovely but I have to tell myself I don't need any more boots!

ChishandFips33 · 28/10/2016 20:53

Yes to the Tathams being comfortable. Smile

I have walked a bit in them but for longer miles I tend to wear my DMs/Cats but that's mainly as I don't mind them getting muddy as much. I see my Tathams as dressier ratherwirk horses!

ChishandFips33 · 28/10/2016 20:54

*rather than work horses

BikeRunSki · 28/10/2016 21:11

Persis my rather unexciting, but extremely safe, actual work boots. You have nothing to be envious of! 😄

Grin bike they are......safe-looking!!!

chish I am marginally put off them being pull on as I spent my first maternity leave slopping around in old skool uggs and it's just such hard work to walk in them as you have to hold them on to your feet. Is that the same with the tathams?!? That would be an absolute deal breaker!

Casual Strap Ankle Boots these come in a few different colours.

I have them and they have quite a weathered looking leather. It gets more and more weathered looking as time goes on, too, and they are as comfy and sturdy as anything.

NipSlipper · 28/10/2016 21:25

oh bollocks sorry I can't seem to link - they're the 'Leather Casual Strap Ankle Boots' at Next

Flisspaps · 28/10/2016 21:28

What about charity shops? They'd do battered, flat, black leather boots.

PollysPoppy · 29/10/2016 18:08

Bought Flaps Uggs yesterday and they are, indeed, absolutely lovely and so warm! Ta for link!

ChishandFips33 · 29/10/2016 21:29

It is a little Persis, so may not be your cup of tea. The buckle can tighten which would help - I've never tried though as I don't walk far in them
