Hiya,
I have heard, please correct me if I am wrong, that smocks are very "in" at the moment. Now, being a size 16 can I wear one without it looking like a maternity tops, or just plain awful? I was thinking with a big belt, but am really not stylish so will more than likely get it all wrong... I like the idea of wearing one, they look comfy, not clingy etc. but how (if) can I wear one right? And what should I avoid? Or go for? Colour/neckline/length etc? Oh, and are jeans OK with one? See, I need loads of help!

Many many Thanks xXx

Jeans are great with one, although the idea is to have a kind of 60s look, so thick tights is better. Now, the key to whether you'll suit this is really tits. They look great with a boyish figure, but with tits, they hang straight down from the tits and you look pregnant. I bought a lovely Zara one when I was pregnant, thinking 'it's so trendy I can wear it afterwards', forgetting that I've always had massive bristols and it's just not the right look with big bristols. However, if you're thick waisted and small hipped, it can still be sort of flattering. If you're fond of your hourglass figure, go for something else.

The trick is to wear tight clothes where you're thin and loose clothes where you're not thin. So you do need to cinch your waist - but the idea with the smock is to have no waist at all. No belt. You'd be - in my opinion - giving up a good curve for not much aesthetic gain, although you're right it would be comfy. Then again, there's no harm in taking a look in a changing room, sometimes things we expect to look iffy just work.
