Skinny ankles = ankle booting hell

Anyone who has stupidly skinny ankles found some ankle boots that don't look ridiculous? If so please share? Look want some that look ok with skinny jeans or leggings that don't look like boats on the end of my legs..
no heel or max 2 inch. Black or brown..

Oh and I always wear knee high socks pushed down into them

JanetStWalker · 21/10/2016 01:25

I have similar scrawny ankle/leg set up and I've found the trick is to wear boots that come up higher on the calf. It disguises the skinny ankle and there's less of a size discrepancy with the thighs.

Excuse the wagtastic pic, it's just for illustrative purposes. Basically any style of boot that hits about here is a winner. I spent hours in 2009 wondering why skinny jeans looked so shite on me, the calf boot was my solution and I'm sticking to it!

This is the pic I was on about: coolspotters.com/files/photos/954147/alex-curran-gerrard-and-celine-phantom-bag-gallery.jpg?1357405778

Compare to the same boot but in the shorter style, look how much more unflattering they are when they hit lower down the leg: www.fashion.hr/EasyEdit/UserFiles/News/img-repository-2012-11-web_image-ash_titan.jpg

I'm not necessarily talking about this style btw, just the height of the shaft It works with any style.

Try boots with a slight dip at the front
Avoid pull one as the top is naturally wider to get the foot in
Boots with a tongue as the tongue pulls in a little closer, narrowing the gap
this might help

I'm probably in the minority but I actually think they look nicer with slim ankles, I've always wanted skinnier ankles Grin
I always feel like my legs look too chunky in ankle boots.

Alwaysrushingaround · 21/10/2016 02:16

Chish do you know where the first pair are from?

Littlebeek · 21/10/2016 05:55

Some good tips here thank you everyone.
I agree those boots in pic 1 are lovely chish.

Petal02 · 21/10/2016 08:56

Zazathecat I love the boots from Cara that you've linked. I don't actually need any new boots right now, but you've tempted me!!

RaisingSteam · 21/10/2016 10:23

I've resorted to lace up boots , makes a change from all the Chelsea boots

Felascloak · 21/10/2016 10:26

Felascloak · 21/10/2016 10:27

GrinGrinGrin
Very good!

cromwell44 · 21/10/2016 20:35

I have the boots in RosieLig's link. they are good for skinny legs as the narrow at the ankle and are good for wearing with skirts and opaques.

gladyoucame · 21/10/2016 20:45

Sam Edelman Petty style boots are slim round the ankle. I also have some M&S shoe boots (higher heels) which are slim round the ankle.

Buttwing · 21/10/2016 21:35

Ash boots are very similar to the first ones chish posted I have jalouse which are few years old now and think they have been replaced by something similar with a different name. I have skinny ankles and size 7/8 feet. I've never had a problem with them.

grounddown · 21/10/2016 21:40

grounddown · 21/10/2016 21:43

(Didn't get them from clarks though....can't spend £60 on boots, got them for £38 from amazon)

Littlebeek · 22/10/2016 06:54

Thanks ground, I've been looking at those Orinoco boots as couple of ladies have recommended them. I'm going to order some abs fingers crossed I don't look like a flag pole in a canoe Grin

FlamingoFling · 22/10/2016 11:18

I'm always posting these boots cos I love em but the ankle is pretty narrow. They also look good with opaques.

Bony narrow ankles here, I have:

Look better in real life and very comfortable

Possibly so called 'mum boots' but a lot of the online reviews for these have people moaning the ankle is not wide enough
