I have a meeting on Monday that I really need to look like superwoman for and I only have about an hour child free tomorrow to find it.

Can anyone recommend me some where to start to maximise my chances of finding it?

I am 35, size 14, size 34g boobs, mum tum. Blonde and pale (but will fake tan!)

My boss is size 8, young and gorgeous and I don't want to feel awful stood beside her. I have control pants and sky scraper heels.

Budget about £100 max as I'm broke, but as desperate I will go without food if it's a super outfit that will magically transform me.

Any ideas?!

I'd buy a jacket which fits really, really well, and a red lipstick.
Good luck with your meeting!

I'd go for a shift dress, plain but striking colour (or basically anything but black), plus a statement necklace or scarf if you're good at tying scarves and avoiding the Boy Scout look. Cos would be my first go to.

Can you get to a big shopping centre where you can access lots of shops in one go? Like Bluewater or something?

When I used to go into big meetings, I would wear black cigarette trousers (Gap) with a smart top (Mango) and a statement necklace (Accessorize / Zara). Made me feel far more powerful than being in a dress. I am also large of nork; therefore I avoided high neck tops.

I would actually steer clear of skyscraper heels as I think they can look too 'try hard'. And no one ever walks properly in them. I walk and hold myself better in a mid heel.

Good luck, I hope it goes really well for you. And do not compare yourself to your boss.

Also re lipstick...unless you are used to and practised at wearing a red lip, don't do it for this meeting. Making a big change, especially with something like lippy which takes a bit of practice to get perfect, can make you feel less confident initially. You don't want to be worrying about smudges or lipstick on your teeth if you need to focus on the meeting. I speak from experience; when I first started wearing Mac Ruby Woo, I wore it to a senior meeting where I was presenting. Error. I spent too much time worrying about whether is had smudged or whether I looked a knob in it.

However, if you're an experienced lipstick wearer then hit the Mac counter when you go shopping and treat yourself!

I agree - if you regularly wear strong lipstick and those particular heels then go for it. If not then not.

I do think that a jacket is a great start but you have to find one that fits perfectly - and that means hitting the shops and really going for it - trying on every single one.

This 25 quid H&M one is worth a try.

If you buy a jacket, buy one with 3 quarter length sleeves and no buttons. I'm also size 14 top half and big chest and feel much more proportioned when my sleeves are pushed up to just below my elbows.

I go for very chunky jewellery when I'm going to have a tough day. Huge rocks that could knock out a bull.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 16/10/2016 10:09

I've had a few tough days weeks recently when I've needed to step it up and out on my game face.

I've apparently channelled my inner Joan-madmen. Pencil/wiggle skirts chiffon blouses heels.

What did you end up with, OP? Hope your shopping trip was successful.

twirlypoo · 17/10/2016 09:20

Ahh I was just checking Mumsnet and saw you had all replied - sorry I haven't been back sooner.

Okay - I have this dress, with a cream trench coat thingy to walk in with.

It fits really well, but it wasn't what I was after really so not feeling at the top of my kick ass game. I think I was aiming for the same as you electricboobs with the pencil skirt / blouse and have ended up mainstream.

Hey ho. I am wearing it. I have mid height wedge heels (dune) and my hair looks awesome and flicky and stuff praying it lasts

Boss has already started with the bitchy comments so hoping it is a quick meeting!

Thanks everyone Flowers
