Just that really. Probably very comfortable, but would they look naff or frumpy? And could you wear them with skinnies?

They are really revolting.

Paulat2112 · 12/10/2016 16:51

I think my Granny Mary has these

polyhymnia · 12/10/2016 17:24

Well, pretty unanimous verdict here. I should say I have several FFs and they are indeed really comfortable. The most comfortable, their silver skate shoes, are also my most admired pair of shoes.

But that doesn't mean all FFs are fine - or that I don't want style as well as comfort. I'm not 80, but, even if I were, think that would always be the case.
Other places I buy my shoes btw are R and B and Hobbs - these www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0216-R80Z-048H010&productvarid=0216-R80Z-048H010-MINK-DOE-37&refpage=shoes-boots/flats-pumps

or these
www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0216-S529-048H025&productvarid=0216-S529-048H025-DOE-MINK-37&refpage=search/results are currently on my autumn list.

As for the pair in the post, I obviously felt they might be a really bad idea - that's why I asked for others' views. Just a tiny bit attracted for a moment by how the cool young model (not much like me, alas) looks in them and by the idea of the 'soft' patent making them a bit different/ quirky. But not in a good way. it seems!
Thanks.

Good lord woman, no!

Love the Rachel's, they're gorgeous.

maggiethemagpie · 12/10/2016 18:19

Fugly. Surely there are more stylish ways to be comfortable!

taggies · 12/10/2016 18:25

I had made my mind up when I saw 'fit flop' in the link.

Clicking merely confirmed my suspicions.

Confused
buntingbingo · 12/10/2016 18:32

I like them! 😶 I'm only 37 so (hopefully) don't have granny tastes.

mollie123 · 12/10/2016 18:42

granny boots/slippers - would not touch them (or wear them) and I am a granny! At that price you could get a v nice pair of ankle boots.

Slothlikesundays · 12/10/2016 18:45

Awful

Talisin · 12/10/2016 19:45

There are certain boots that are so ugly they're cool. Not these. Sorry, but a world of no.

Madbengalmum · 12/10/2016 19:48

Hideous, they look like those bootee slippers really old people wear.

Madbengalmum · 12/10/2016 19:50

Rachel shoes not too bad, pumps are grannyfied again thou!

Mrskeats · 12/10/2016 19:53

My mum just said they are old-fashioned. She's 78 :))

polyhymnia · 12/10/2016 23:03

The Rachel shoes are a lot nicer than ' not too bad' I think! Obviously not everyone has the same tastes.

I'm not going to defend those particular FFs though! Not exactly old-fashioned - more never been any fashion I think!

OP posts:
polyhymnia · 12/10/2016 23:07

Btw please can we drop the lazy use of 'grannified' to mean anything unstylish/ frumpy/ ugly?
I'm sure grannies will agree that style isn't a matter of age or biological chance!

OP posts:
DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 12/10/2016 23:11

Oh my, they look like a ninja verucca sock.

polyhymnia · 13/10/2016 00:20

Not going to defend the FFs.

But just read madbengal's commentsagain. If you mean by 'pumps' which you think are 'grannyfied' ( ghastly and ageist word) the Hobbs Gwen sneakers, I wonder where you shop and whether you are aware how 'in' this shoe shape still is. R and B, Ash, LKB and many other trendy brands have lots of them this season. Or is it animal print you think is 'grannified'? Or perhaps any comfortable shoe?

mollie123 · 13/10/2016 07:14

poly
you do realise that some of us - already being grannies and over a certain age are using the term with a hint of humour aimed at our memories of our own grannies.
As a granny I would never wear them and I suspect I am not being ageist in any way. Hmm

ZaZathecat · 13/10/2016 09:29

I usually like all the boots hailed as fugly on MN, but on this occasion...

StCecilia · 13/10/2016 09:37

If you like them buy them, although they do look like they'd be bought for comfort over 'style'. Then again it's all subjective, what's one persons style is someone's else's idea of fugly.

badtasteflump · 13/10/2016 10:05

I think my Granny Mary has these

Grin

They are hideous! And IMO the model in the pic can't even pull them off!
