foundation recommendation?

I've always used Versace foundation as I had my face done by a Versace make up artist once. It's lovely but way more expensive than Clinique and others. Which foundations do you recommend?
Also, nearly every foundation I try seems to be for yellow based skin. My skin is apparently blue based so I need a more pinky rather than yellowy foundation. Any ideas?

bare escentuals

Have a look at this range - I've had it recommended by friends. They've all got different skin tones/types but they all look great.

Aveda tinted moisturiser or foundation is great. Takes years off you.

Chanel Chanel Chanel. Their liquid foundation is like no other, I'm addicted.

LawdyMissTutter · 07/02/2007 07:58

agree - chanel

i have er, 'challenging' skin (small patches of dry skin plus generally hormonal bumpy pg skin) - wouldn't normally expect to be able to wear foundation for fear of patchiness, but it's great

Yves saint laurent have a new foundation out now.Cant remember the name but you apply it with a brush and its by all accounts just like their Touche Eclat for the whole face!

ricepudding · 07/02/2007 12:45

Laura Mercier is fab, very natural looking and lasts ages

puffling · 07/02/2007 15:03

Thanks for all ideas.
I shall try one of them

Another vote for Chanel - this was heavily plugged by Cod a while back and I bought some - no regrets!

I'm quite fair (pink and white actually) and I use Estee Lauder Lucidity foundation. Have done for years. Most of the year the shade is Ivory Beige but on the rare occasion that I have a tan I go one shade darker.

Bobbi Brown. The foundations range from barely there to good coverage but all very light. Since I "discovered" BB I have saved so much by not buying 'whim' purchases of dodgy purples or orange lippies - they give you a complete breakdown for a beautiful natural look - even on days when I feel greyer than grey I still find the stuff perks me up. The ladies (and men ) on the counter don't push the products either and are happy for you to say you have similar stuff at home you can use. I can't recommend Bobbi Brown highly enough. Love it. (Ps I don't work for them - just too close to Selfridges for the good of my finances...)

Clarins Teint eclat Confort, is my fave, and a the last tube lasted me a year (£20). Its SPF 15. I have combi skin, and its not draggy, and you dont get any of it blovking the lines. iyswim!!

twinsetandpearls · 13/02/2007 14:24

Chanel one especially if you ahve blue based skins, the prescriptives ones are good as well. Currently on a clinique which is ok bubt not as good as the others.

Dinosaur · 13/02/2007 14:28

I've just splashed out on the new YSL foundation - Perfect Touch - as I like Touche Eclat a lot.

If you buy both together you get 500 boots points atm.

incy · 13/02/2007 15:25

Another for Bobbi Brown. They do give very good advice and I'm yet to buy a product from them which I haven't used/loved.

faustina · 14/02/2007 06:54

I bought the yves st laurent touche eclat a couple of weeks ago and it is brilliant - was using chanel before but ysl much nicer. Go into a shop where they sell it and they will do your face so you can see what it looks like before you buy

puffling · 14/02/2007 19:17

Thanks for more excellent advice.

Having used Clinique for years i recently changed to Lancome - its gorgeous and I will definitely continue to use.

I wear Chanel and I am often told I have great skin at nearly 40. I am a magazine addict and often read great things about Armani foundation. I can;t get it in this small market town in the middle of nowhere but it might be worth tracking down.
