I really need black trousers for tomorrow and bought these today. My main critic (DD) has just left for university and the cat has no opinion. Do my hips look huge and are they as unflattering as I think?

Honest opinions please!

They look fabulous, you have a lovely figure Envy

LobsterQuadrille · 03/10/2016 19:23

Aw, thank you. This is the first time I have ever posted for opinions - it's just been DD (an excellent advisor) and me for 18 and a half years and now she's at York University, 242 miles away with a broken phone! So I appreciate all comments.

They look much better with that top - the V neck balances you out and shows off your shape.

At the risk of getting shouted at by other posters - and because you asked for honest opinions - I prefer slim leg trousers now but that's only because I've got bored with skinnies.

My son's also just left for uni so, although he wasn't much use for style advice, I know how you're probably feeling Chocolate

Who's looking at the hips? You have a thigh gap!! Well jel. If I had a figure like that at 47 (or nowGrin), I'd be wearing the skinniest skinnys I could find. Go girl.

Fuzzypeggy · 03/10/2016 19:37

Yes nicer with the top. You do look great. I tend to think though that skinnies which are very tight do widen the hips by their very nature as they are so tight at the bottom. If hips bother you then skinnies aren't the way to go because of This which is why I commented, as you mentioned your hips. But there is nothing wrong with your hips at all and with the top it's a lovely outfit. Enjoy wearing it.

Thank you Flo - I've a pair of jeans and that's it! I had half an hour at lunch time and just grabbed what I had read were a "good fit" - Leigh from Top Shop. I wouldn't know where to go, what to look for etc. Maybe I should have researched better ...

And yes, it's a bit odd being the cat and me, although my friends are brilliant. This is (the leaving home, successful career blah blah) what is was all for, after all .......

Look at that flat tum!!

ample · 03/10/2016 19:52

Looks fabulous on you and black is great...emphasises a sleek silhouette.
Hope you're wearing them somewhere special (as in, nice-special)

LobsterQuadrille · 03/10/2016 20:26

Thank you ample and oh yes, somewhere really special - a finance conference ...... (I am a finance director and don't want to look like one but not too awful, which is why they have to be black)

Wow you look ace. They're lovely. Love your bath.

Joinourclub · 03/10/2016 20:37

You look amazing. You don't look too hippy at all, you a great combination of slender but shapely.

LobsterQuadrille · 03/10/2016 20:47

Thank you Lucy and Join - I love my bath too!

Ladies, I shall keep them and wear them. You are all great. The reason really for my initial confusion was there were no sizes - it's waist and length which, in theory, should be good - but in a quick shopping trip in a lunch break with no time to try on, wasn't (26 waist and 32 length - it was a guess!).

I'm speaking at a conference tomorrow and am OK with black trousers - fed up with the same dress/jacket type combination.

Thank you! Smile
