If you are an Autumn (HoC etc), leggings, jeans, black...

Do you wear black at all?
I was diagnosed nearly two years ago and haven't worn anything black since that day.
I've been thinking about my Autumn (time of the year) wardrobe and I really want to get out of blue jeans. I was thinking leggings and tights and jumper/dresses. But, I can't get my head around wearing coloured thick tights.
I found a pair of brown leggings in primark about a year ago, they were good colour wise but dreadful quality and brown just seems a bit of a weird colour to wear all the time.
So I'm thinking about going back to the dark side (black)...

I keep seeing people dressed head to toe in black and missing that look a bit :/
Thoughts/help?!?!?...

Thanks!

Charcoal grey all the way karcheer. Take it from the HoC consultant Grin.

Stick on black and charcoal and se what suits you best, ask a friend or your dh if you need convincing.

FinnFamilyMoomintroll · 30/09/2016 17:49

Charcoal's a good one - I'd forgotten about that. Everything in the shops always seems to be that light grey which doesn't suit me at all. I have a gorgeous cashmere cardigan in that shade which completely washes me out. I find wearing brown rather depressing unfortunately! Need to keep an eye out for more charcoal things, at least they'll go with all my black stuff Confused

I'm an Autumn and I live in m&s 5 pocket jeggings which are more like skinny jeans. I have them in dark teal, burgundy, khaki, dark brown and bottle green. I tend to wear them with brown boots.

cauliflowercheese14 · 30/09/2016 20:29

(I never wear black clothes but have some black boots that I'd wear with green.)

amazonianwoman · 30/09/2016 21:11

I'm soft autumn but still wear black and it suit me as long as I wear make up (all the time!). Dark charcoal washes me out. Many autumn colours just don't look as chic as black imho.

FinnFamilyMoomintroll · 02/10/2016 08:32

I think browns can look very chic but they need to be good quality fabrics - think MaxMara camel coat over a cream cashmere roll neck with chocolate brown skinny cords and brown riding boots.

Unfortunately thinking about it is about as close as I'm likely to get to that particular outfit but hey ho!

cauliflower thanks for the M&S tip, hasn't thought of looking there. Also I want macaroni cheese now.

amazonianwoman · 02/10/2016 13:44

Oh yes, agree about nice camel coat, love my Jaeger one Smile

Statelychangers · 03/10/2016 08:58

Camel makes me look ill and matched with a cream polo neck would complete the disaster - that's why I'm not 100% convinced about this colour thing. Black suits me better than camel or beige - yet I'm an Autumn.

FinnFamilyMoomintroll · 03/10/2016 19:14

There are different spectrums within autumn though - I'm a soft one so any really dark colours are a bit much. With camel it really depends on the shade - a deeper warm tone is OK but anything too close to beige and I look absolutely awful. It's a very fine line!

Lymmmummy · 03/10/2016 19:26

lol love that you were diagnosed as an autumn makes it sound like an illness

I am an autumn and though I can wear black I look much better in browns/greens etc as too much black just makes me a bit sallow looking - if you really like black I have found it's fine but just don't wear it right next to your face - I find black and white things are ok for tops or black floral just not a big block of black

RaisingSteam · 04/10/2016 13:19

If you look at the autumn palette though it's masses more than camel brown and green. What were your ** colours?

Statelychangers · 04/10/2016 16:43

It's hard to look even vaguely cool in Autumn colours, it was the season I dreaded being.

BrassicaBabe · 04/10/2016 19:33

Thought I'd share....

This looks amazing and is so "autumn"

evelynj · 04/10/2016 21:03

That jumper it's gorgeous but batwings are awful on my bat Wings!

Debenhams-John rocha sometimes have brown jeans-I don't suit skinny either so have a few straight leg pairs in brown, khaki, teal & aubergine, (not in HoC palette but in some other colour analysis it is autumn & coordinates with autumn tops)

H&m usually have loads of autumn stuff

RaisingSteam · 04/10/2016 23:00

What caught my eye was this in Kettlewell catalogue, it's not in my colours but I love the look and no brown or green in it.

buckeejit · 11/11/2016 16:20

Bringing this post back to recommend Asda wonderfit skinny jeans-theyve just brought them out on dark brown, plum (I know it's not in the palette but lower half & will go with things) and what they call teal but looks more like the autumn petrol blue/marine navy if anything to me.

Read the reviews-I've bought them in every colour-so comfy!
