Winter shorts

Am I looking too early? I'm thinking navy, grey or black, maybe tweed or with a small fleck. Mid thigh to wear with opaques and brogues.

Just lurking about for some inspiration! I have some thick black hot pants that I've had for years that I sometimes dig out in the winter with opaque tights for nights out and parties etc, would like a more casual pair of shorts for everyday winter wear. I have quite a few pairs of opaque tights in different colours and a few pairs of wooly ones too but I don't have much to wear them with!

I'm 22, 5'5 and a size 8-10 for reference.

SallyVating · 24/09/2016 03:03

No such thing as too curvy. I'm 5ft and size 16 and 45 years old and I rock that shit. Go for it regardless.

Just make sure the tights are 80 denier at the least

ItGoesWithoutSaying · 24/09/2016 07:57

Meadow - what about denim shorts and tights for more casual? I do.

MeadowHay · 24/09/2016 10:27

Oh yes, that's a classic. I used to have a pair of great denim shorts that were a small size 8 but then I got too fat for them and I kept them for ages hoping I'd fit back into them at some point but I gave up eventually and gave them to charity Grin

MeadowHay · 24/09/2016 10:28

PS I agree that there is no such thing as too curvy for wearing shorts and tights. Wear it with confidence, that's all you need, and you'll look fab!

KanyesVest · 24/09/2016 12:00

I like the denim shorts look too, but they tend to be a bit too short for me and I'd like something a bit more tailored.

Very fashionable 16yo next door has just told me to try h&m for shorts. I can't see any on the website but I'll go look during the week.

In the meantime, I've done a complete about turn and bought 3 midi skirts Blush

Ooh what skirts did you get? I'm living cord mini skirts at the moment. Have them in navy, black, burgundy and rust! Really lusting after a baby blue Smile. I bought a black cord pinafore from primark this week too.

KanyesVest · 24/09/2016 18:04

This in navy and green and
this one in grey.

Ooh, I especially like the first one Kanye! I have to clothes shop on a strict budget though because I'm a student who is yet to start my part-time job and DH is currently unemployed and waiting to start the job he's been offered.

H&M is good and well-priced. I have a midi-skirt that is light green and crinkly but it's a summer skirt. I also have a thick black pencil skirt but I don't wear it very much. My "style" is generally super casual and well quite typical of a student I think!! But I would like to start varying it more and wearing more skirts and things rather than just living in my jeans/hoodies/converse, haha. Although I do have a denim mini-skirt that has a button up front that I wore a lot in summer when it was hot and I reckon will be good for winter with woolly tights too.

I'll have to go into town to find some shorts because I'm a weird in-between size with shorts. Sometimes an 8 and sometimes a 10, depends on the shop and the type of fit. I'd rather order online but knowing my luck it won't fit.

NantucketNightbird · 24/09/2016 18:19

I live no where near any decent shops so have to get everything online. It's such a hassle having to return. I really want some velvet shorts...off to hunt

KanyesVest · 24/09/2016 20:05

I'm in Ireland and I fucking hate people so I do lots of online shopping too. It's a bit more hassle here, we get very few free return options.

I think I saw velvet shorts somewhere... I've just looked at so many places, I can't remember where Confused

I'm not a people person either Kanye. I can come across as a bit opinionated with a warped humour, but the reality is I'm a complete introvert! I'm sort of wanting more structured velvet ifgwim all I'm finding is crushed velvet Confused
