Shall I get my Blond hair dyed to copper? And how long does it take

I bung on a nice and easy blond colour every few weeks to cover greys

But I really want copper hair like this!

I think my skin tone is right - I have pale skin, blue and green veins and blue eyes.

Should I?

Also I'm thinking I should get it done professionally - how long does it take?

I have a child free day today and I am out this evening so I'm up for it right now!

Well if you're sure you'll like it. If you can afford it, go to a hairdressers. If your hair is very bleached, they can use a protein filler first. This will ensure your colour doesn't wash out to a murky gingery hue and give you a more vibrant colour. It can all be done in one sitting.
Bear in mind that red hair is actually the hardest to maintain especially if you're not a natural redhead as it very quickly fades. I would advise buying shampoos and conditioners specifically for red dyed hair.

Good luck, before and after pictures if you dare! Smile

Nineties is right - red hair fades fastest and is the hardest to maintain. Be sure you're willing to commit! Fabulous colour though.

It IS a gorgeous colour and yes, red is hard work.
I'm not sure a hairdresser would dye it today, unless you did a patch test.

And if you dye it yourself, do a strand test.

You could try a wash in dye (I don't know if there's anything under the level of 'semi' there used to be those washin/washout sachets) but the colour grab will be uneven where the hair is more porous. (Strand Test Grin )
Plus you'll need to rethink your make-up colours.
And deal with regrowth.

What colour is your natural hair?

Chelsea26 · 10/09/2016 12:05

Sorry for delay - thanks for all responses! I'm booked in for 13:00! Eek!

My natural colour is dark blonde but hair is lighter from home dying.

I will but red head shampoo and commit to regular salon trips (to be fair that sounds like a nice hour or two off!)

Can't take a photo of my hair today - it's too dreadful - but will try and find a recent one and post an after!

Good luck OP! I've always loved that gorgeous copper colour.

wowfudge · 10/09/2016 12:18

You'll be like Demelza Poldark if your hair is like the photo when it's done.

Chelsea26 · 10/09/2016 12:35

How gorgeous is she? I wish! My hair isn't that long yet but I'm growing it! Thanks

Get the hairdresser to take a photo when it's done - doesn't have to show your face if you aren't up for that on here. We want to know what it looks like!

Chelsea26 · 10/09/2016 16:27

Ok before and afters! I love it! It's a real change but I think it looks ok! Thanks for all advice!
