advice about eye bag surgery and will i be able to pretend it was something else??

Dear lovely Mners
Please can I ask about eye bag removal surgery and if anyone has had this done. I have large, grey eye bags that take over half my face and I wish them gone. However, please can anyone advise on what the down time is, how bad hte procedure is,and if I might possible be able to pretend to work that the surgery was actually for something like blocked tear ducts or something relevant that might conceivably explain why the bags have gone??

Dm had an op for drooping lower eyelids which made her eyes prone to infections and dryness. Someone she bumped into afterwards just assumed it was cosmetic and was quite scathing I had one to remove a cyst inside the eyelid which bruised under the eye.

Sinus surgery? When I've had sinus surgery, I've had 2 massive black eyes. And when my sinuses are bad, my face swells a bit and my eye bags are a LOT worse.

NB I also have permanent, inherited eyebags and I've thought about sorting them, as I'm fed up of looking even more exhausted and miserable then I actually am! Here is lots of info about the tear trough surgery for the 'shorter' sort if bags, but no so much about the deeper bags that I have. Hmmm...

Or - just own it, if you're brave?

If you can justify this procedure to yourself then you should be able to field questions from anyone who asks you whether you've had it.

zebra - not sure I am that brave , although bizarrely I think it would depend on the friend circle. For example I would happily admit it to my hairdresser, who would want all the gory details, but I'm not sure about my snobby work!

I would go all Cheshire house wives and say daasaanling I've had surgery sweetie. Makes you look all rich and stuff

I have had my upper eyelids done, I dont have eye bags but my eyes were beginning to be 'droopy'. If your surgeon is good, nobody will be able to see the scar since the incision is done at the lash line. I dont understand why lying about it but if you stay at home until the stitches are out, NOBODY will be able to tell you had it done.

How long's the recovery time, chiquita?

The only person I know who had this surgery done had a little row of white dots where the stitches had been in the shape of the eyebag and this was some time after the procedure. It was very noticeable. This was several years ago however so maybe the procedure is different these days.

You could claim you had an eye condition I suppose and needed an operation to correct it.

about 2 weeks, the thing that lasted the longer with me was the bruises, but I bruise very easily, like I said the incision is on the lash line and it wont be visible and with time if you are white, it will fade even more. I say this because dark skinned people scar differently.
