Make-up brushes ...

... my 5 month old MAC foundation brush has started to go green at the roots of the hairs! It gets washed very regularly with baby shampoo. Any ideas? I've only got a few brushes which all get the same treatment and the others (Bobbi B) are all fine. Is it me or is it the brush??

I've never had that happen, even w/a foundation brush. How are you drying it?

Hi Expat ... I'm just giving it a gentle rub in a towel and then letting it air-dry.

That should be fine. It shouldn't be going mouldy. Are you laying it to dry in a place that's not damp?

I'd take it back and ask them what to do, tbh.

Hmmmm .... it dries in the bathroom but it's airey and definitely not damp. Might bring it back at the weekend - have an apt to get make-up done with MAC on Sat am. Can see a splurge coming up although am torn between MAC and Laura Mercier. Decisions, decisions

did they tell you how to care for it when you bought it?

i've always cleaned my brushes the way you do - baby shampoo and air dry.

although i lay mine to dry in an open window sill on in the kitchen, which is pretty dry.

Can't remember - they did recommend their own solution but I think I mentioned that I do my others in the baby shampoo and they said it was okay. That's what BB recommended for their brushes so I just continued as I had been going.
