Which hairdryer for long, thick, dry, frizzy hair. Parlux? Which one please?

This is really for my daughter. She has such thick frizzy hair. She also has it really long.
We have been persevering with the curly girl method but after a few months I still can't get rid of the frizz on the first 10 inches from her scalp down.

She's 11 and wants long swishy hair. I have babyliss big hair and her hair was nice but only lasted a day and took forever to do. I want to be able to blow dry her hair and it look nice for a few days. I also have a 14 yr old DD with similar hair and my hair is quite thick too. So will get my money's worth out of the hair dryer. Oh and an 8 year old dd.

What parlux would you recommend? I was thinking of getting the parlux 3200 ceramic iconic thingy one. I can see there are quite a few so a bit confused. Thanks.

I've got the 3800. Still have to use straighteners but it does make a huge difference to drying times and frizz. I've got the diffuser attachment too for curly days and it's fab.

Mrs thanks for reply. I was hoping not to have to straighten her hair after. Though straightening her hair takes me 1 hour and 15 mins. I've done it about twice!

What diffuser did you get Mrssmith - just to find out what diffuser would fit a parlux? Thanks.

I bought a Diva XLPro professional diffuser. It's HUGE and fits my hair into the cup very easily - and no frizz. I bought it after asking about the hairdryer and diffuser used at Spring hair salon where I made a pilgrimage went to have my hair cut for the first time this Summer.

duff = thank you. Does your diffuser fit on a parlux? Or is yours one of the diffusers that is attached to the hairdryer.

I really want to get her a hair dryer that gives a reasonable professional looking finish. I need something to sort out the frizz on the hair nearest the scalp.

I have the 3800 and it's done nothing for my frizzy thick hair, it certainly wasn't the life changer mumsnet told me it would be!

Do you have thick plate straighteners op? I have the wider size ghds and they seem to straighten my hair lots quicker than narrower ones (mine are really old now, not sure if ghds are the best now)

I got the parlux 3800 Eco and love it. I still use my straighteners and did not believe what a difference it has actually made. Deffo dries smoother.

I'm confused- if she wants it straightened and blow dried why are you using a diffuser?

I have curly hair, if she really wants it straight and swishy would she have it cut ? Mine was manageable at shoulder length. Just on a practical level you can't be spending an hour or so a day on hair surely

Hairspray= Yes I have similar hair to my DD so have the thick plated ghd's. I just don't want to be straightening her hair with straightners every few days. It is also so time consuming.

Bengal= what you are saying sounds very like the curly girl method. I have always until a few months ago used moroccan oil/argan oil on her hair. The problem is if I put a bit on her roots her hair looks greasy. I appreciate I am probably putting too much on the roots. With that oil it is so hard to get the amount right. I actually began to think it was probably a build up of the morrocan oil that was causing the totally frizziness on the top of her head. So I stopped using morrocan oil when I started the curly girl method with her hair. According to curly girl frizz is just a curl waiting to happen.

Pissed - you are right. I don't have time to spend an hour on dd's hair a day. Which is why I thought if I bought this hair dryer people raved about I could blow dry her hair twice a week (hopefully each blow dry only taking half an hour). One hour doing the whole week. No at the moment because I don't have time to straighten her hair every day or for her to do the curly girl method every morning her hair just looks a bit mad.

She has taken to pulling it into a bun over the last few days.

In my first year class photo at secondary I look like some kind of Afghan hound with my crazy puffy, frizzy mop . I am trying to avoid that for dd.

Pissed - I would love for her to get it cut. Even just to should length would make it much more manageable. She refuses to get it cut. We have managed to convince her twice over the last 3 years to get it cut. It is far too long.

OP, I have the same issue, but when I use the Babylis my hair will stay frizz free until I next wash it, because I use a silk pillowcase.

I put my hair up in a bun at night, then sleep on the silk & it doesn't frizz it up overnight, something to do with the fibres.

Thanks Bengal. Might get her to give that a go. Though think I will get the 3800 purlex dryer. Even if it doesn't help dd's hair or too time consuming, I would use it on mine and my other 2 daughter's occasionally.

Sorry for the late reply but I got the parlux diffuser. Bought it with the dryer on Amazon in a bundle deal. It's quite small as diffusers go, but it's great.

She doesn't/can't straighten it as it looks frizzy and damaged when it's straight and much better when it's curly.

She does follow some of the the curly girl method. We use sulphate free products (tresseme with the coconut on the front) and once a week she sleeps with coconut oil on her hair.

The DIVA is a universal diffuser and will fit a parlux. But I bought the Valera Turbo 8200 ionic dryer and its fab.

I disagree that using a diffuser makes frizz worse. Up till a month ago I hadn't used any kind of heat on my curly hair for 30 years precisely because of the frizz factor. But now I know otherwise.

i think its about the products and handling of the hair. I use Trepadora products and I have no frizz, no crunchiness, no build up. I have also used Deva Curl which is good too.

I sleep in a silk bonnet and it helps keep the curls intact so in the morning I can refresh my hair.

Keratin blow dry, the best thing I've ever done for my hair. Makes it softer, smoother, swisher and no hairdryer will ever come close to the result I'm afraid.
