OMG amazons Brazilian blowdry is fabulous

Tried this product for the first time on Tuesday after reading loads of Archived MN reviews .

I wanted to try it as a desperate attempt to sort my hair as I've had a bit of a style change recently, lost weight, new clothes and a new hair style and went shorter than I ever have. It looked amazing when I came out the salon but as soon as I did it it looked dry frizzy and far too Flicky making it look really bad.

I applied the product by myself and it didn't take as long as expected or as much faff as I thought. After applying the keratin it blowdryed really quickly and once straight looked amazing better than after I had the full works at the salon. It kept well over the 3 days. By day 3 it looked a little flat and tad greasy but still went out.

I've just washed it out and am impressed. It does seem to appear a tad straighter. All my frizz has gone and it feels amazing no longer dry and brittle.

I ran the straightness over it and it took 6mins instead of 25-30 and its poker straight.

I'm loving this product and wish I used it years ago

I bought it a while back after posting wondering if it would work for me but have only just got round to using it.

I wouldn't touch it, it contains formaldehyde and the fumes you breathe in can't be good for you.

I've been considering this for a long time. I'm a bit concerned about the fumes though. Was it awful?

I tried it. The fumes were awful - it felt like my lungs were burning. It works well but it is bad for your hair.

I honestly didn't find it bad. My friend said why not dry and straighten it in the garden.

I thought if it gets bad I will. When blow drying I didn't find it smelt really at all only on my side fringe that hangs by my eye.

When straightening it gave off a little bit of fumes not much and I wasn't in a well ventilated room.
When I did my fringe it was quite strong so I closed my eyes.

As I was doing it on myself and it's away from your face it really wasn't bad just one section but I will be doing my friends and will do that outside as I imagine if your stood behind them it will hit you in the face IYSWIM

Have tried this too. Quite good but only lasted for four weeks. And then once it had all washed out, my hair was left really flyaway and hard to control for weeks - so wouldn't bother again.

I did use the special non sulphate shampoos etc too before you ask.

Could I ask a couple of questions, stripeyzebra? Is it suitable for bleached blonde hair and can you dye your hair after you have 'Brazilianed' it? And is there a regime you have to follow afterwards, special shampoos etc?

Lost its fine on bleach blonde from what I have read. You can have it done immediately after dying your hair .
If you do the Brazilian blowdry first you need to wait two weeks before dying.

You need to use salt free shampoo (sodium something) but I found some in boots treseme keratin that is suitable and bought the shampoo and conditioner it was at a reduced price for about £2.80 and it's a big bottle too.

Round here the salons charge £150 to do it. I paid £29.99 and have half the clarifying shampoo left and just over half the keretain treatment left. I probably used too much as I wanted to make sure I had it covered.

I sat in front of a mirror and placed another behind me so I could see the back and that worked really well.

Thanks for the tips . It sounds like something I could do and I'm pleased you don't have to buy expensive shampoos to maintain it.
£150 in the salons is absurd!
I waste far too much of my life straightening my hair so hope this could be the answer.

I use this and agree it's brilliant. My hair is soft, shiny and has dramatically reduced frizz.

I did mine about 3 weeks ago and it is still far easier to handle. The fumes do get me though, it really makes my eyes sting.

Apparently it has an accumulative effect so your hair will be even better if you do it again quite soon. I'm going to redo mine next weekend.

I didn't find the fumes that bad.

I have a 90 degree kink in the back of my hair. Using this stuff was the only reason I managed to grow my hair past the worst stage.

Primal that sounds like mine. Did you find it straightened it? It says straightening on the box and I was a bit dubious about that but it has deffo made mine straighter especially my underneath layer that was partially bad and had started kinking sideways.

Yes but not horribly straight. The bonus for me was making the sticky-out bit sit properly. My hair is long now, but I'm tempted to do the treatment again anyway as sometimes I don't have time to dry it in the morning before work.
