I'm getting my nose pierced!

I'm thinking of getting a little sparkly stud to start with, something small and pretty.

I can't decide which side to get it on though - does anyone have their nose pierced, and which side do you have it on?

Thank you so much for the replies everyone!

I'm due to get it done next week, but I'm feeling a bit nervous and doubting myself now...!

What are you doubting / feeling nervous about?

I had mine done early this year at the age of 52 after wanting to do it for 35 years...and it brings me joy.Smile

Mine's on the left: never thought of the other side. Mind you my mother was Indian and though she didn't have her nose pierced (she loved it when I did - cheered her up when she was dying) I must have picked up the habit of the left side from relatives etc.

Oh that's lovely mother !

2protect - I'm just wondering if it will look nice on me or not, and if I decide to take it out if I'll be left with a big hole or blackhead looking thing.

Mine is on the right as my lip is on the left. It healed really well, much better than the lip did. Both have a thin silver ring.

(I also have a hair shaved on one side with an industrial, but mine is on the left Grin )

When people come to see me for a piercing and aren't sure what side to have done, a lot of the time I say 'Which side of your nose do you tap when you say you're getting it pierced?' People are often surprised they even do it, but they do, and that's the side we go for. Or, if they sleep on a certain side, we go for the opposite side so it doesn't come into too much contact with their pillow.

There's an equal amount of left and right side piercing too. There's no 'appropriate' side to have done - that's a bit of a silly old myth.

I'm getting mine done soon and have similar worries.

One of my nostrils is larger than the other and I don't know which side would work better to even things out a bit.

Mine is on the left.... With a blue sparkly diamond...I love it

When I was younger I had it done on the right side a few times but it kept getting embedded etc so decided not to bother with that side again plus I prefer the left hand side of my face Grin

Thank you for the responses! I think I've decided on my left side. I sleep all over the place, so that didn't help me to decide!

I'll report back tomorrow after I've had it done...!

I had mine pierced 22 years ago on the left side.

It went septic whilst I was at uni a year or so after I'd had it done (at a proper piercing studio with a needle), which was most unpleasant, but managed to heal it up and never had another problem with it.

The studs I wear are sparkly but quite tiny so not terribly obvious.

Mine is on the left. No reason why, other than my only tattoo at the time was on y right hand side (not of my nose) and it felt balanced that way!

Had to take it out for work about 5 months after I had it done and it closed up. But got redone recently as got new job.. I love it, even though I'm currently trying to get rid of the red bump that's appeared. But hot salt washes/aspirin washes seem to be sorting it.

Painful when being done, well made eyes water, but was OK almost straight after. Unlike my helix which hurt like hell for weeks, and on,y now (4 weeks on) can I even try lying on it. Love that too though.
