Casual shoes to wear with socks

Sounds daft, I know, but I'm at a loss as to what to buy footwear-wise. When you don't want to wear boots, but it's a bit too chilly to wear loafers without socks. Are there any alternatives? Trying to look smart/casual (think skinny jeans and fitted shirt or nice jumper) and avoid Converse. Any suggestions?

Chelsea boots? I've just bought a pair of dr marten ones after reading a thread about them on here and hoping they'll be my "inbetweeny" shoes/boots as well as for winter. Saw some in m&s also so pretty sure everywhere will be getting them in with the a/w stuff.

I was going to suggest DMs too.

Chelsea boots - good suggestion. I'd not looked properly and was thinking they'd be bigger boots than google images reveal them to be!
I'm wanting something a bit daintier than DMs I think.
