What colour tights with grey shoes?

I bought some grey shoes in Evans today, and they're actually lighter than they look in the picture - what colour tights should I wear with them? This time of year I'm normally wearing black opaques, but that really wouldn't work. Any suggestions, please?

nude i think

brimfull · 29/01/2007 22:19

or grey?can you get grey opague?

JackieNo · 29/01/2007 22:19

OK - I do worry slightly that I might look a bit grannyish in nude, but will give them a go. Thank you.

OOoohhhHH teal!

wotzsaname · 29/01/2007 22:20

Green or red or is it time for fake tan yet? I should be blocked from going on style threads!

JackieNo · 29/01/2007 22:20

Don't know about grey opaque - I'll have a bit of a look. Thanks.

Don't fancy green or red - I did all the brightly coloured tights in the eighties, probably too old to do them again. Though I like the idea of teal... Anyone seen any around?

Thank you, all, btw.

patterned, dark grey, barely black?

MrsJohnCusack · 29/01/2007 22:23

would they have teal in top shop or similar?

you can get grey opaque tights which might be nice (I know I've got some somewhere). But not sure where - I would always look in a decent department store for something like that.

MrsJohnCusack · 29/01/2007 22:24

fishnets!

JackieNo · 29/01/2007 22:26

Ooh - I'm spoilt for choice now. Thank you. MrsJohnCusack - I suspect Top Shop don't make them in my size though. I've never worn fishnets. I'm getting all excited about the possibilities now.

fishnets are really flattering if you get nice (i.e. not really cheapo) ones with quite small mesh. they make ankles look fab.

JackieNo · 29/01/2007 22:39

Might try them, then. I'm just browsing on mytights, and have found these rather puzzling things (not to mention the section of tights for men ).

Some grey or blue ones here (posh make, too, I think).

OP posts:
MrsJohnCusack · 29/01/2007 22:48

like the posh ones. but how can you call one colour Anthracite (classy, like it) and another colour of the same tights Brenda???

JackieNo · 29/01/2007 22:50

Yes, Brenda as a colour description requires quite a leap of the imagination doesn't it.

red would look nice or yellow.

Thanks all - I think I'll invest in some fishnets.

I have some grey wedges that I wear with grey ribbed tights, grey fishnetty type ones from Monsoon or burgundy fishnetty type ones.

Monsoon/Accessorize have lovely tights in all sorts of lacey patterns and different colours. I am wearing bright blue/tealish lacey ones from there today and have had lots of complements.

I bought some grey opaques last Autumn but always felt a bit as if I looked as if I was wearing elephant hide!
