Boots foundation match service

I have an appointment at Boots tomorrow for their foundation matching service where they zap your face with a little machine and tell you what colour foundation you need. Sorry if this sounds silly but do I have to go in makeup free for an accurate result? Thanks.

I was matched to Calico as it's the palest shade but it's too dark on me, makes my skin look dirty & a bit jaundiced. Was really fed up as I'd bought a bottle there & then.
I think the lipsticks that are sold under the match scheme, on the little cards they have, are all too dark too. They seem to have discontinued some of their old good colours.

Take it back, they are really good at returns ime.

I was matched to cool ivory. The lady gave me quite big sample pots of the different no 7 foundations and I have been working my way through them. My favourite is the matte one as it gives really good coverage so I shall now purchase a full size bottle. I was also given a card with the blusher/lipstick tones that I should be using. When I first applied the foundation sample I thought that it was going to be too pale but once blended it was a really good match. Strangely the Boots lady that tested my skin had a very obvious orange tide mark round her jaw.
