Hi. I'm going to a wedding in March and have no idea what to wear. I thought I might find something in the sales but most of them are too partyish or too bridesmaidish. I'd like a dress with sleeves, preferably 3 quarter length, and it needs to be fitted under the bust or have a defined waist, as am pretty curvy. I'm size 12, 5'2", dark hair, pale skin, dark eyes; usually wear black but don't really want to wear black. Look okay in deep reds or in emeraldy green or peacock blue. Look awful in pale colours.

Any ideas much appreicated!

controlfreaky2 · 25/01/2007 21:53

give us a budget please

janeite · 25/01/2007 21:56

Budget - up to about £65 I should think. The brown is deffo too conservative; I like the black one but really am trying not to have any black in it. The shape looks good though.

Lovely - but nothing in Monsoon ever fits me! I am v small across the back but rather large of boobage - 34DD - and their dresses just aren't made for that shape! Sorry - am being a pain and you are being so so helpful.

gggirl - thanks! I like the Greatplains one a lot, and also the Kew one. Am going to Solihull tomorrow and there's a Kew there so I'll have a look. What are Greatplains sizes like, do you know?

I think they're fairly standard actually, but I find kew quite generous.
I always find things aren't big enough for my enormous norks though.

janeite · 27/01/2007 18:47

Update -
well I must have tried 20 dresses on today, and didn't buy anything. The Kew dress was far too long and looked really frumpy - a pity as I quite liked the look of it from the web. The Next dress is awful irl - far too bright and seriously 80s looking, sorry ggirl! I found a couple that I liked, one in Linea in House of Fraser and one in Coast but they were both black and I am determined not to wear black! Monsoon had some lovely ones but they were all a terrible fit.

Am thinking I might be better off with a skirt, top and jacket instead - so - let the challenge begin!!!! And I am really grateful for all help, even if I sound utterly awkward!

brimfull · 27/01/2007 21:16

oops this

brimfull · 27/01/2007 21:19

another dress but it is petite

janeite · 27/01/2007 22:04

I've got that Oasis dress already ggirl! Love it! I wear it over trousers for work.

Wallis clothes don't fit me very well either, even the petite stuff. I've got short arms and legs and am high waisted. I do like that coral print one though - will go and try it on next weekend.

Just thought - I haven't looked on Boden yet and I know there stuff fits me pretty well.
