What do you wear when friends come to your home for dinner

Help needed from you lovely stylish people. We have friends coming to ours next month for dinner or bbq (weather permitting) and I'll love advice on an outfit. It won't be a stuffy dinner party or anything like that but it will be child free and hopefully we'll have lovely food and drink. I feel a bit weird getting as dressed up as I would going out for dinner when I'm in my own house if that makes sense. I feel strange in high shoes for example when I'm at home.
Anyway I normally wear Whistles. Hush clothes etc but I just have no idea what to wear. Any suggestions? I'm loosely thinking about jeans and a silk blouse tucked in....

Sounds great to me, though mine is usually accessorised with an apron, so I don't spoil my clothes.

If you want to look really cool yet like you haven't bothered (!) you could go for skinny jeans, plain shirt/blouse, and then a gorgeous Anthropologie apron over the top Smile www.anthropologie.com/anthro/m/product/home-kitchen/21238993.jsp#/

He he! If it's a bbq I won't be going near the food-I'll be leaving that to DH so no need for an apron for me Smile
