Fine hair owners - tell me how you make it look fabulous

Please share your favourite products. I have fine dark brown hair - would love to know best products to use after hair washing to make it look shiny and fab

No amount of high St or salon product made my hair shine like a regular semi-perm colour in my exact shade of brown.I'm intrigued by and would try olapex when I next return to natural colouring.

I use a Boots anti build up shampoo on it once a week and it makes it shine like mad.

I also put a touch of Moroccanoil on the ends.

Not a product, but I blow dry and straighten (not too much) with my hair flipped over (upside down) and that helps give it volume as well as shine.

A shortish (ear/chin length) Bob with layers, and a tresemme texturising spray have worked wonders for my fine & wavy hair. I think it's mostly in the cut for me, longer hair looks 'stringy' on me.

I second a shorter cut.
My hair looks appalling long. It looks at its best in a short graduated bob (it's spectacularly straight as well as fine) but that takes a lot of upkeep and I'm lazy so it's a mid length layered bob at the mo.

Product wise, I use a l'oreal thickening shampoo and conditioner (not sure of exact name but it's in a blue and pink bottle)

I also like John frieda thickening lotion but haven't had any for a while.

Yes agree about having it shorter. Chin length or thereabouts is as far as I can grow mine. After that it can't cope at all.

I have to be careful with too many layers as well. Hairdressers wielding those terrible thinning/texturising scissors have done dreadful things to my hair before now. I speak up and ask them not to use them if I see them coming at me now.

Even though my hair is straight, I find a quick run through with GHDs make it shiny and better behaved.

The garnier ultimate collections yellow one has worked absolute wonders for my long fine hair. Wonders!!!

Mine is chin length - Phyto do some good products for fine hair, but I love a silicone free shampoo.

I'm about to buy another Aveda Thickening hair tonic. It's made a noticeable difference and hair still soft and glossy.

Same here. I eventually accepted my hair does not look good when it is long, and there is no way around it.

Chop it!

A precise chin-length cut, highlights (they texturize my hair) and minimal product use but regular blowdrying (upside down and finishing with an air styler).

I dry, straighten and apply dry shampoo straightaway. I use root volume powder and dry shampoo to style in the morning. I wear my hair up and can go three days between washing.

My hair was in good condition but not washing and styling it every day does mean it doesn't break as much.

I'd love a Bob, my hairdresser keeps talking me out of it. My hair means it would take a lot of styling.

Great advice thanks. Writing up my product list now. I wish I could have short hair but it just doesn't suit me and I have tried!

Salt spray

Second the not too long votes here. Mine is shoulder length and I get it blunt cut. It's got a slight wave which can make it look thicker. Highlights (I have them done every 12 weeks) and I've done a slight ombre thing right on the ends - makes it look thicker too. Aveda's Pure Abundance styling power and Shampure dry shampoo between washes.

Clarifying shampoo once a week. Redken is the best but Pantene is OK.

Heat styling serum - currently Kerastsase Ciment Thermique. Sorts out the fluff without weighing it down.

Blunt ends, minimal (long) layers. Semi permanent colour to plump the hair strands and make it glossy.

And yes to a shorter cut. My hair touches my collarbones which is really flattering & I don't have a great face at all.
