Cath Kidston ...what are your thoughts?

Personally I like a lot of the prints, mainly floral but some others like gnomes, Cowboys, sausage dogs and kittens.

However, I do think it is incredibly overpriced for the level of quality, in recent years. On Facebook groups and on reviews of Cath Kidston products, there seems to be many customers complaining of faulty stitching on purses/bags and about clothing items (possible sizing issues im not sure).

I can't remember the name of the person/company who took over from Cath, herself, but IMO they are ruining the brand by not being consistent with product quality.

Anyway, what are your thoughts when you heard the name Cath Kidston or see someone with the brand over their shoulder or in their bags, etc?

I always buy my dd school bag from cath kidston and she has bedding and pyjamas from there. I have never bought anything for myself from there as I like the kids stuff not so much the adults

Scoose · 28/06/2016 10:20

Oh tell I lie I do have six different mugs I love them

FurryLittleTwerp · 28/06/2016 10:26

I like the odd thing, but mostly find it too sickly

ppeatfruit · 28/06/2016 12:47

I realise that this is a ghost thread (until you revived it, Madmum), but do people really think CK is that bad?! 😬 I have a dress from there, a leather bag, quite a few foldaway, pretty useful bags and was actually considering getting a purse from there recently. I like vintage and vintage-look garb and am into pattern and florals, so maybe that's it?! This thread from a few years ago is so vicious! 😕 Madmum - really sorry that you've had a bad experience though! x

Like a flower fairy threw up all over their merchandise. Twee and overpriced.

DavetheCat2001 · 30/09/2018 15:15

I have 2 tea dresses and a red leather handbag, I like the things I have, but can see the 'twee' argument.

I have an oil tote bag, brilliant in the summer, can go on the beach, throw all the things in for the children it comes up smiling. Have bought clothes for DC before. Just that paying £52 for 12-18 months old girls dresses for something that would be unacceptable in Primark is galling and to forget to pack in the matching little patterned briefs is the limit. They do not appear to be publishing reviews mmm...

The only thing I like from Cath Kidston is the trifold travel card holder - it's the only one I have found which has three clear slots for travel card, photo card and Oyster card. I've bought them over the last few years (they usually last about 2 years I find before they start looking battered). The luggage label I have on my travel bag is CK as well - a needs must purchase at Gatwick when I realised I'd forgotten to put one on my handluggage.

I'm not keen on a lot of the other stuff however.

Lucked · 30/09/2018 18:57

I bought a chambray dress this year, it was really thin and tore on first wear.

madmum5811 · 30/09/2018 19:21

Well five of the top people have jumped ship since June which is interesting.

I have these two dresses.

I've worn the strawberry one loads, including when I was pregnant.

I really don't like the regressive "let's all pretend it's the 50s when women didn't have rights" vibe. I do have a couple of pairs of socks from there that I was bought by someone else, and I got my mum a knitted teacosy that was shaped like a clock. She is probably the only person still alive who uses a teacosy, mind.

Mrs9C · 01/10/2018 09:20

I like it, but the quality is pants. I bought a backpack in July, used it for a holiday in August, and the strap is torn. Rubbish for only a fortnight's light use Sad

verite · 01/10/2018 11:47

Yuk.

madmum5811 · 01/10/2018 13:28

advice needed . Their website prevented me from asking for the rest of my order, so I have tweeted, facebooked and instagrammed asking them to send the rest of the order. Anything else I can try??

ToeOfFrog · 01/10/2018 13:46

I think her stuff is tacky and awful. Wouldn't give it houseroom.

Aspenfrost · 01/10/2018 14:06

Sickly.

madmum5811 · 02/10/2018 09:22

Well no joy with their fb page. Thinking of contacting a friend who writes for the nationals. She's good at digging around. Mind you the thought of the sad faces of two briefless babies ala DM is always cringe making. Luckily she's a real journalist

HildaZelda · 02/10/2018 16:18

Too 1950s
Too Mumsy
Too floral
Too expensive

Can you tell I'm not a fan?!
