Seen loads of people wearing it on tv (I think??!) is it really fashionable at the moment- or should it be left in the realms of the teenage Goths??!

oh my friend had hers black...it is ok...it makes a nice change!

SparklyGothKat · 20/01/2007 13:10

I wear black nailvarnish.

pineneedle · 20/01/2007 13:15

Do want to buy some, although I didn't see any in the shops last week?

I think black is a bit harsh. Go for very dark red or dark brown inside.

janeite · 20/01/2007 14:38

I love black nail varnish but have stopped wearing it whilst everyone and his dog is. Will use it again once "the masses" are wearing neon pinks and oranges in the spring. And once my nails have grown a bit - they are beyond awful at the moment.

CODNoMore · 20/01/2007 14:38

yes hteres a new Chanel one that is a bit lighter

DizzyBint · 20/01/2007 14:40

i wear the very dark red chanel one. it looks almost black. rimmel do one nearly the same but it's not as nice and thick.

mustrunmore · 20/01/2007 15:03

I've not been without it on my toes for at least 20 years now.

KTeePee · 20/01/2007 16:04

Mmm don't think I'll be doing this one (nails not good enough for one) but mostly because it would be like reliving the worst excesses of my "alternative" phase as a teen......

Bucketsofdynomite · 20/01/2007 16:26

It's all right on long nails but I think it looks like some horrible accident on short ones (anyone ever broken a toe?). Actually same goes for any dark colour I reckon.

DizzyBint · 20/01/2007 17:59

oh no! dark nail varnish on long nails looks too goth. i much prefer it on short nails, not bitten down to the skin short but short and neat and square.

CODNoMore · 20/01/2007 18:00

now isnt it funny how someone saying thay have used it for 20 years imediately maked them LESS stylish and more sad old goth who need to MOve ON

expatinscotland · 20/01/2007 18:01

Oh god, NO.

Rouge noir, yes.

Black, no, unless you are a goth.

CODNoMore · 20/01/2007 18:01

no theres a new chanel balck expat
it was very in at xmas

NbgsYellowFeathers · 20/01/2007 18:03

I think Black looks ok if your tanned and quite trendy other wise it just looks baaaaad.
Dark Red or Brown looks much better IMO.

CODNoMore · 20/01/2007 18:04

Chanel Noir Ceramic 337 Nail Colour, £23 (020-7493 3836). Chanel's pure black nail varnish was a sell-out, but it's past its prime now. The clever money's on this new nearly black shade with the faintest light reflective shimmer.

CODNoMore · 20/01/2007 18:05

here

expatinscotland · 20/01/2007 18:07

Cod
You did NOT buy it? Or, worse, put it on?

NO!

mustrunmore · 20/01/2007 18:07

But I was never a goth. So your theory fails

NbgsYellowFeathers · 20/01/2007 18:08

Hmmm, its still Black though.

CODNoMore · 20/01/2007 18:08

no i have shit nails

nikkie · 20/01/2007 19:55

I was looking at black but on the basis I wear black most of the time I think I will look too Goth?

Bucketsofdynomite · 21/01/2007 15:10

Oh no if you're in top-to-toe black all the time, your nails are an opportunity for a little creative frisson of colour, makes it a little more girly. Ditto handbags - patent red bag and matching glossy red nails, or electric blue or brown leather.
