Can I fix DD's hair? pic inc. or is this a hairdresser job?

DD 13 asked our mobile hairdresser for ombre back a few months ago. No problem said the hairdresser and she proceeded to do it. Initially we were pleased but in hindsight and after a few days it was clear that the job wasn't that great.
It's patchy, over time the colour has got really brassy and DD isnt happy with the outcome.
Can we fix this ourselves with a semi / permanent colour? DD still wants the ombre look but doesn't like the fact this is blocky, she wants a more gradual effect.
I did wonder whether a flat brown all over would wash out a bit on the ends and achieve the effect she is after.
Any thoughts?

She's too young for hair dye. Cut it, let the dye grow out, then teach her to love her natural colour and make the texture work for her. Will save her thousands in hairdressing bills and will be priceless to her self esteem

I think I would go to a hairdresser I think trying to sort it yourself could be a bit of a disaster. I think it need a few darker highlights at the bottom to break it up a bit. If you bit a semi over the top it could just end up a murky brown colour.

I would be worries about the blonde turning green if you put a brown on.

Toner or silver shampoo for the brasiness, you could try blonde hair to get the patches sorted, its probably worth a try before forking out for more hairdressers

Don't try and fix it, it won't end well. Either visit the hairdresser and get it done properly or get it cut.

I would do the latter tbh.

I wouldn't put brown over it.. the blonder parts might well end up greenish (done it myself..not a good look) Best left to a hairdresser to sort out!

I would head to a hairdresser's to get it sorted. They would probably be able to get the ombre right by lightening it a bit more. Make sure you check out examples of their work before you pick a place though, to check they're decent.

Def see a hairdresser. It's not just the colour she could end up with but the condition of her hair you need to save esp at her age. It would be really traumatic at that age when everything is changing if she had her hair ruined

It's not bad. Ombré is blocky. If she wants gradual she needs balayage.
The colour is brassy so needs a toner. Go have a toner done and she may like it again.
Then use a violet shampoo in between to maintain. Plus a good protein rich conditioner.

Def a trip to a professional hairdressing salon for a good cut and possibly lowlights to blend it in a bit.

I'd agree that it needs a toner - at the moment it looks like the colour has washed out and she's been left with the bleach only.

Just at Boots or Superdrug in the hair dye section.

You need some darker bits put through to break it up. Google balayage hair colour, that's more of an updated ombre.

I wouldn't attempt anything yourselves, definitely go to a good hairdressers and get them to sort it out.

I would get the lighter bit cut off so it's all the darker colour and then use a semi permanent dye like loreal casting to add a bit of shine and depth. The lighter hair at the end looks like it's been over bleached and it's changed structurally, it needs to come off I think.

Lots of conditioner.
Purple/ silver shampoo to lessen the brassy tone.

Try 'touch of silver' shampoo in a purple bottle, it's a gentle toner that you use in place of shampoo. It works visibly with one go on my Balayage. Available in boots/superdrug, possibly big supermarkets too

Have you got a college salon? They'd love a bit of colour correction.

I put an ash brown semi permanent Nice n Easy colour over horrible brassy highlights and it turned out well. It toned them down but still left a light highlight. I think it might work well here.

The best toner I have found is Lee Staford bleach blonde shampoo, apply liberally to towel dried hair, leave for ten mins, rinse and condition. £7 in Boots.

I would ask the hairdresser for cool toned highlights to blend in colour and a good trim. Alternatively, a long bob to cut off the ombre.

I have silver shampoo and conditioner here so just tried it, left it on a while. I can't say it's make a discernible difference though. Am tempted to get the ash blonde semi permanent to stick on, this takes me back to my 13 yr old self who coloured, bleached, permed and God knows what else my own hair. I can remember cycling to the chemist with a hat on more than once to get a colour to put over a hair disaster!

Good grief. 13 and hair colouring?! Far too young to be on the road to hair damage!

Dont colour her hair again.

Cut the damage out and use aveda black malva conditioner to tone down the brassy shades. (Wear gloves!)

Also from what I can see she has wavy /curly hair..maybe suggest she uses the curlygirl method and a fab long layered style? Good luck

lol we really overdid the sun in age 13! everyone did it!

I quite like the effect myself. though a toner will 'tone' it down.
