I need an outfit for two summer balls and a cocktail party

For the first time in years I have two summer balls to go to in July and August and then a cocktail party at the end of September. I want to buy something new to wear but whatever I get will need to cover all three occasions, there will be mostly different people at them all.

I was thinking skirt and top maybe so that I could perhaps get a couple of tops but I'm struggling.

I'm a 5.5 hourglass, size 10, with a very wobbly stomach and 30G boobs, I know I don't want any of those 50's lindybop things, they're really not my style. I like all saints dresses but don't think there's anything there that quite fits the bill and don't know where else to start. I did try a couple of Ted Baker dresses on in an outlet store today but whilst the fit was good they weren't really me.

I would try a mid dress from Coast. I can't do links on my IPad, but there are lots of choice there.

I should maybe have said that my default is under, rather than over dressed if that makes sense and so everything on Coast's website just looks too formal to me. I just don't know where to start with this

This would be nice on an hourglass with larger norks I think and it has a kind of All Saints vibe...

I quite like the orange oasis dress diddly but not sure about the colour, the maxi isn't me at all. I'm good a knowing what I don't want/like but struggle with what I do :)

I tried it on and loved it but the colour didn't work on me. I'm mousey and fair but not porcelain.

LadyAntonella · 12/06/2016 21:29

Hurray! I like the black and cream one best.

helloworlditsme · 12/06/2016 21:30

I'm fair too which is what worried me about the colour Diddly - shame it doesn't come in any other colours

The net a porter one for the cocktails. Not sure a the French Connection one is dressy enough. None of the are screaming "ball" to me though.

helloworlditsme · 12/06/2016 22:08

How dressy does ball need to be do you think Wisps? I really don't think I'd feel comfortable in floor length.

I'd go long myself. The viv Westwood ( which is fab!!!) is also jersey which I think is too casual.

helloworlditsme · 12/06/2016 22:13

I love the westwood one, thats my comfort zone, just looking for an excuse to buy it really but even I know it's not really right

This maybe? Love the navy and black but it's perhaps a bit boring

A friend of mine has an almost identical figure (is that you B?) she often wears Diane von Furstenburg dresses and looks amazing in them.
